Maybe he embellished the story for publicity, and now that, in a court of law, under oath and with the threat of jail time if he lies, he realizes that the little tiny bit of publicity that the story generated for him is not worth the s.. load of bad publicity and bad times ahead makes it not worth continuing with the shtick.
