Jennifer Hudson's Family Tragedy Pushed Madonna's Divorce Off the Radar

The triple murder tragedy of Jennifer Hudson's family wasn't going to be ignored by the celebrity weeklies. Sadly, multiple deaths are what it takes to get a black girl on the cover of a tabloid. The editors of each weekly, then, had to consider how the competition was going to play the game. Only People and Us gave Hudson A1 treatment, while every other magazine at least included her in a sidebar or footer.

Life & Style and OK! ended up with the same photo. Only the Globe went with a picture of Jennifer with her mouth closed — because nothing says tragedy like eyes staring into the horizon and a mouth agape.

And the honor of Going Full Exploitative goes to, not surprisingly: the National Enquirer (for somehow further dramatizing the story by going with the "Jennifer was the real target" storyline), the Globe ("Crime Scene Photos"), and even Life & Style (let's move the story ahead by saying Jennifer now "fears for her life").

Tabloids are disgusting. I understand the idea that a celebrity gives up a certain amount of privacy when they become famous, but they deserve respect during tragedies and what happened to the entire Hudson family should not be hocked by cheap magazines to make a quick buck.

Tabloids are disgusting . If this had happened to one of thier family members they would want Respect and privacy . So WHy do they not show other the same Respect . This is an awful things that happened and should not be used by tabloids as a money maker . I am sorry for the hudson family for this senseless tragedy and I hope they get the person /persons responsible .
