Harvey Weinstein Deserves All His Money Taken Away From Him
Place your bets

Previously, we've almost felt bad about Harvey Weinstein's money trouble with NBC Universal (due to Project Runway trying to move to Lifetime), Miramax (Zak and Miri poster), and paying off the Post for a million dollars for lying about Scott Rubin's email address.

But losing money to The Post's gossip mummified Cindy Adams of all people? Because of a $10,000 bet about Mel Brook's atrocious Young Frankenstein? That's not bad luck, that's being Well you know what they say about a fool and his money.

NOVEMBER 2007 "Young Frankenstein" opened. January 2009 it closes. It failed for two reasons. Mel Brooks' earlier wild success with "The Producers" led "Frankenstein" to charge a $450 top ticket price. Also, the show was flawed. Opening night I mumbled it wouldn't last. Entertainment/marketing genius Harvey Weinstein (think Miramax and all its Oscars, think his new incarnation Weinstein Pictures, think the success of his wife's couture operation Marchesa), an investor, said I don't know whatthehell I'm talking about and it would be a smash. Witnesses remember he bet me $10,000 it would run five years. This is to tell Harvey: Whether I donate your $10 thou to Meals-On-Wheels or ASPCA, my pet charities, or whether I put it toward some schmatta your wife makes is my business. Today is Day One of my awaiting your check.

Maybe this is the Weinstein Brother's clever way of having Rupert Murdoch take over their failing company: keep injecting his New York Post with dollars until the Weinstein's are forced to declare bankruptcy.
