Word of Warning: No More Ranting About Exes on Craigslist

Hey guess what guys? Posting disparaging remarks about an ex-lady friend in Colorado's Craigslist might land you in a heap of trouble due to an archaic loophole in the state's libel laws.

J.P. Weichel could spent 18 months in prison after he made some comments about his ex trading sex for drugs and money and endangering the health of the child that they share together. The woman in question hired an attorney that invoked a rarely-used 1800-era state clause that "bans statements 'tending to blacken the memory of one who is dead' or that 'impeach the honesty, integrity, virtue, or reputation or expose the natural defects of one who is alive.'"

So be careful at there folks: we all have an ex or two out there who'd love to see us locked away for a year and a half because we made some joke about their weight gain on Facebook.
