Chris Matthews' baby brother Jim

Well, it took awhile, but we finally figured out what's behind all of Chris Matthews' frat-boy bluster and consistent rage issues. And the reason is sort of similar to the Chris Cuomo story from yesterday: behind every self-doubting, insecure news anchor, there's a brother waiting to nuggie him in the wings. Matthews' tale of sibling rivalry is doubly painful however, because it's his younger brother, Jim, who is muscling in on the controversy revolving around the Hardball star and his possible bid for Senate. And yeah, Jim already held a public office position in Pennsylvania. Talk about complexes.

Says the younger, arguably more successful county commissioner:

"I’m his mortgage guy," he said. "He is going to have one less loving brother if I find out he has picked out a house and I don’t know about it."

Matthews said he doubts his brother will give up his TV gig for a chance at the Senate, though.

"I think he is perhaps leaning towards what he does best," Jim Matthews said. "He has expressed that every time we talk."

He added: "He's still got the fire. He's still got the flair."

Oh, and did we mention that Jim is a Republican? Next you'll be hearing about how Matthews is running for Senate, just to spite his baby bro.
