The Children Are Our Pornographic Future
 


A 15-year old girl was arrested on Monday for sending nude pictures of herself to a classmate (because she's underage, and that constitutes child pornography). The girl is facing felony charges including illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material and "possession of criminal tools." "Criminal tools," one assumes, is the camera/cellphone in question.

If convicted, the girl may be forced to register as a sex offender for up to 20 years, which she'll have trouble explaining when she's 35 and trying to get the neighbor's kid to mow the lawn.

If there is one thing we learned from MySpace, it's that if kids aren't getting exploited by someone else, they are just going to turn around and exploit themselves. But 20 years as a sex offender for taking nude photos of herself? She should claim it was "art" and make a first amendment case out of it.
