Paterson Is No Longer New York's Favorite Governor It Never Elected
The budget cuts that killed Manhattan

Eliot Spitzer might be grumbling his way around Slate shindigs, but he's actually got it pretty easy, at least compared to his successor. Following that mean-spirited sketch about him on Weekend Update (which he didn't find all that funny, btw), David Paterson today announced the proposed budget cuts for 2009, which will no doubt find him taking a giant step backward in his approval ratings.

First slice to go in the plan to relieve the $13.7 billion deficit of New York? School funding and health-care. Who needs 'em! Oh, and about 3,000 job cuts. That will teach New York's comedians to joke about his blindness on live television!

Boo Hoo! His poor feelings were hurt. How about the poor New Yorkers that are now going to be unfairly taxed for everything possible while they are losing their jobs and cutting off funding for important programs that help the lower middle class. I hope snl do more parodies on him. I never heard other politicians cry when they did parodies on them. Eddie Murphy used to parody Stevie Wonder and he never used the disabled card.

Paterson said he could take a joke. It's all over the news, local and national, turn on your TV. Paterson was bothered by the stereotype that blind people are bumbling and confused. SNL went for the cheap laugh and got it. Paterson is no Mr. Magoo.

Those "programs" don't work. And, apparently, neither does the budget office. I'm quite certain 10 times that many jobs can be cut before the average NY resident even notices.

And as for SNL, Paterson just found out what the rest of the country knew long ago.

I think the guv made it clear that the budget was exaggerated in severity to get the attention of the capital BUT seriously dude? You're gonna tax my beer? Oh no you didn’t. Nothing gets done in nyc, it takes a DECADE to build a friggen memorial and two decades to get the subways on time but as soon as there’s a budget deficit the taxpayers get shanked in the arm. Fat people tax, beer tax, lotto tax, internet purchase tax, fare hikes, tax to cross the bridge.
