Celebrity flacks are known to lie to protect their clients. The list of accepted liars include Leslie Sloane-Zelnik (client: Lindsay Lohan), Ina Treciokas (Sarah Jessica Parker), and of course Liz Rosenberg, the lifetime flack for Madonna, who's been namedropped in every tabloid for months as the pop star's marriage to Guy Ritchie finally wound down. Rosenberg is responsible for issuing such doozies as Madonna "has not adopted a baby, despite reports that she has," just as her client adopted David Banda from Malawi in August 2006. But just how big of a liar is Rosenberg? THIS BIG. Because the woman issues statements one day, then follows it up with another statement claiming the first statement was a lie, and that the press "misrepresented" it. Hah!
People, among other outlets, is today carrying the story "Madonna Denies Reports of a $76 Million Divorce Settlement." And it goes like this:
• On Monday Liz Rosenberg spoke to the Associated Press and said Madonna's divorce settlement with guy was somewhere between $76 million and $92 million. "I'd assume it's one of the largest payouts ever in a divorce settlement," she told the wire.
• And today? She's calling bullshit on her own statement, with a new statement handed out that reads: "A misleading and inaccurate statement, specifically in relation to the sums of money involved, was wrongly issued to AP this week. The financial details of the settlement will remain private, save to say that both of us are happy with our agreement. Our primary concern, like any co-parents, is the care and well being of our children."
And by the "misleading and inaccurate statement," Ms. Rosenberg is referring to the one she herself gave two days ago. Sounds like a certain soon-to-be ex-husband got a little miffed that Madonna so publicly leaked how little of her fortune he'd be getting.
We're not sure what's worse: That Rosenberg is such a bad liar that she points out her own lies, or that tabloids like People won't even call her on it.

Did you ever think that Liz only does what she's told to do by Madonna? Madonna knows how to work the press. She always has. She loves the publicity. Liz is probably paid so f'en well, that she'll say whatever she is told to say, no matter what it is! It's all about Madonna. Madonna is the star..You know what too, you never hear mention of Madonna's other hanger on that's been hangin on since the 90's. She's a lady who has alot of pull on Madonna. Ask Christopher. He'll tell you. He mentions this lady in his book. She's the equiv of a muise.

My guess is that Madonna made Liz issue the statement and is now making her take the blame for it.
