Chuck Todd's 3rd-Choice Promotion

Hot on the heels of an employee's egregious mugging, NBC News has named political director Chuck Todd its new chief White House correspondent, taking the role that David Gregory left when he became the Meet The Press moderator — a promotion that Todd, ostensibly, deserved. It's also the consolation prize for giving David Shuster the 6pm slot for 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, again overlooking Todd. No wonder Todd had damn good reason to leak all the news.

I'm a Chuck Todd fan. I've watched him host/anchor and while I agree he isn't your typical dashing anchor-type, I'm willing to overlook it because his analysis is smart & substantive. He offers a thoughtful, objective perspective. He's a real journalist. I am so "over" the typical re-hashed, uncredentialed, pundit-speak (ugh). I listen to a lot of news throughout the day, so when an original objective thought is offered up, based on an honest study of the issue, I notice. I hope MSNBC understands his value. Dashing comes a-dime-a-dozen.

More people will see Chuck Todd as Chief White House correspondent than Shuster at 6 PM on MSNBC. No comparison. It's a high profile job. I just hope he asks Obama the tough questions. Not something NBC as done so far.

newsreader, have you watched MSNBC lately? Maybe it's just bc MSNBC is on where I work, and it's decidedly not liberal during the day, IMO. It's all Blago, all the time, and "What did Obama know? WHEN did he know it" dun dun dun, etc etc.

Newsreader,
Chuck will be questioning the press secretary, not the president, on most days.
I am so disappointed that Chuck didn't get a bigger gig than this.
