Chuck Todd Can Barely Hide His Seething Disdain for New Position

"It came out of left field," says Todd, 36, who joined NBC in March 2007. "It's not a job I aspired to, and I don't mean it negatively. There were 500 different ways I thought they could go….

Todd says he was tickled by media mentions of him as a possible successor to Russert on "MTP."

"It was fun to see my name speculated about…It's a pretty big, amazing job, but I only had eyes for one job - political director at NBC."

Todd's looks are more aligned to Russert's than "Stretch"- the- Simian" (Gregory). Gregory is going to tank that program in less than 10 weeks. He is too self conscious, wants to be famous too badly… He just looks better on paper, not in real (or tv) life.

If Gregory tanks, then Todd can take over MTP in a year or so. He's too new to take over an iconic show like that. While he's a great analyst, has he ever carried his own show. At least Gregory has tried and logged in the hours.
