Reality TV may be considered the dregs of the cable programming, but it's also some of the most cheaply made television out there. For the price of a film crew, some digital cameras, and a copy of Final Cut Pro, a station can produce anything from The Hills to a serious documentary.

So it's no surprise that while Viacom is scaling back its expenditures, subsidiary MTV is doing everything in its power to remain relevant and produce new shows to avoid more staff cuts. And what better way to look like you're beefing up your programming schedule while actually saving money than pitch another 5-10 reality shows about teenagers (you barely have to pay 'em!) and their uber-important lives.

Next season's floaters include a From G's to Gents meets Rock of Love: Charm School symbiosis with The Girls of Hedsor Hall, and a show called Daddy's Girls, about Rev Run's daughters moving to Los Angeles to pursue their dreams.

And just for the hell of it, a show called College Life about the University of Wisconsin, with the producers hoping the next Wonderbread Lauren Conrad will emerge from the ranks of U. of W.'s freshman.
