Arianna Huffington: It's the Media's Own Fault That Everyone Hates Them
Passing the Blame Buck

Despite evidence to the contrary (like today's flame war between Dana Perino and The New York Times), New Media Queen Huffington herself doesn't think it's entirely because of the Bush administration that today's readers are more critical of traditional forms of media. It's only like, 90% the fault of the current White House, and the rest is the fault of the Times. Seriously.

I don't really think it's the Bush administration that's fueled the hatred of the media. I think it was the media's complicity in the lead-up to the war in Iraq that has been one of the darkest moments of American media — and that helped fuel a lot of the dissatisfaction with the traditional media.

Well, to be fair here Arianna, it was sort of the Bush administration that got us into Iraq, and fed the then-press secretary Scott McClellan lies that he gave to the American media…but sure, there is an argument to be made that traditional news sources definitely gave the wrong impression during the beginning of the Iraq invasion. Thank god for the dissemination of the power of the press now that we have blogs, eh?
