Smart Move: Wenner Puts Us Weekly Spin-Off Off
Tightening His Belt

Say what you want about Rolling Stone prez Jann Wenner. Say that he's out of touch for just now realizing the Internet is a valuable commodity. Or laugh at him as he tries some linguistic gymnastics to get out of calling Rolling Stones scale backs a recession-driven necessity. Or mention how weird it is that he's in the terrible John Travolta aerobics movie, Perfect , playing himself.

But don't say the man never, ever made a good choice because he was absolutely forced to. His Us Weekly spin-off, Us Style, is being shelved until the economy gets better.

Also this sentence is the best.

While the fashion/beauty category is already saturated with monthlies as well as spinoffs like People Style Watch and Cosmopolitan Style and Beauty, Us Style’s rationale was that the majority of Us Weekly’s readers wanted more fashion and beauty content. If the title sold well, Us hoped to extend it to eight times in 2010.

Haha, yes, the rationale in an supersaturated market is ALWAYS that people want more of what they're being presented with too many choices of. That is how the market works. It's called capitalism, doofus.
