Sorry to bum you guys out so close after Christmas, but growly-voiced Eartha Kitt passed away on Thursday at age 81. She was famous for her throaty singing and making Lady Bird Johnson cry.
In memorium, please spend the rest of the weekend watching Kitt classics like The Emperor's New Groove, New Faces, and the final season of the 1960s Batman series, where Kitt played Catwoman.

I had the great pleasure of meeting Eartha Kitt. She was very friendly and down-to-earth. She was playing the Back Lot at Studio One in West Hollywood, I think it was in the 70's, and she invited me into her dressing room to chat and signed a picture for me. She was really one-of-a-kind, a unique personality with a uniqe voice and talent. She will be missed but at the same time she had such a rich, full life and she kept performing until she was close to 80 and died doing what she loved. She left her artistic mark around the world and now she is lighting up the entire universe. Rest in Peace, Beloved Eartha Kitt.
