At Least Hollywood Can Still Afford to Make Movies
Even if You Can't Afford to See Them

So how was Hollywood able to remain the one industry barely affected by the poor economic climate, with less than a 1% decrease in revenue in 2008?

Upping ticket sales for gimmicks like 3-D and Imax screens. In total, audiences were down five percent, but when you have kids and their parents willing to shell out $25 a pop for Hannah Montana 3-D, you're bound to have a good year even if all your other films are crap like Speed Racer or those non-lucrative but critically lauded Academy bids.
