Mark Ebner and Howard Bragman's Embarrassing Book Cover Duplication

ebnerbragman

Not only is Mark Ebner's new book Six Degrees of Paris Hilton a scathing account of the walking petri dish, it's also eerily similar to a new celebrity-centric tome sure to stall on bookshelves. That's because Ebner's book and Where's My Fifteen Minutes?, the new tome from publicist Howard Bragman, used the exact same stock paparazzi shot on the cover.

It'd be easy to blame their publishers — Ebner's Simon Spotlight or Bradman's Portfolio Hardcover — but what photo is appearing on what book cover isn't put on an intra-office memo that's circulated throughout the industry.

We'll just chalk this copycat scenario as a statement on celebrity: So banal there's less and less variety, and yet nobody seems to care.

Hey Mark that's my camera in the back row! You can expect a call from my lawyer, agent and publicist…

In the meantime send me a copy of the book and we call it even.

In Mr. Ebner's defense, he did mention in an online radio interview that he didn't want to use that cover but that if the publishers insisted on using it, which they did, he wanted the yellow crime tape added to it. Sucks that the author have any say-so on the picture-choice!
