The Rules of Personal Style Haven't Changed

Despite Esquire and GQ's attempts to convince you otherwise, the new "rules" and "manifestos" and "guides" to style they come out with every month of every year do not change. Only the newspeg (Oscars! White House! Summer!) does. The nine always-the-same constantly-repeated never-ending rules to keeping yourself from dressing like a schlub:

1) Wear clothes that fit.
2) Don’t be sloppy.
3) Throw in something colorful.
4) Show a quarter inch of cuff.
5) Navy Blue is nice.
6) Mix patterns.
7) Tuxedos are nice.
8) Good jackets are nice.
9) Just a tiny break in those pants.
