Usually we steer clear of those tragicomedy of American Idol auditions that seem to be the meat and potatoes of cultural schadenfreude for a couple weeks out of the year. The shtick is tired and at this point we're all onto the game where half the contestants show up trying to be the worst so at least they get a minimal amount of face time. But this guy George Ramirez from last night touched our ice-cold hearts in a way that only pragmatic/idealistic 18-year old hipster physicists can. More after the jump.

 

At some point, don't the judges feel like they're lives are pointless and they've been jumping through the same hoops for years now and wouldn't be great to go live with George in a large house with marble floors somewhere? Because I think I saw that in Paula's eyes. It was either that or a Xanax overdose.

This kinda stuff sucks. I tried auditioning for canadian idol once, it seems like its all for tv, they only took the first few in the line and the rest of us were sent home. Im guessing american idol is the same. Im still trying to get into the business, i got some great tips here http://www.startasingingcareer.com been reading through their books, hopefully it will work for me one day…

While no fan of this kinda crap TV (as opposed to certain other kinds of crap), it's worth saying that if members of the GP don't realise BY NOW that they're setting themselves up to be made fools of…they kinda deserve it.

I love nerds. man, i swear i've seen like 15,000 guys just like him at my school. Definitely not a future serial killer, or even WoW kinda guy, just the ever lovable physics major who likes rock climbing and guitars.

i wish i could just collect them all, like pokemon or something.
