Katie Couric Talks to Lil Wayne; My Whole World Falls Apart

couric1

Okay Katie Couric. You've proved that you're a real journalist. You can talk to basically anyone and come off looking good and non-patronizing, as long as "anyone" refers to Lil Wayne and Sarah Palin. Are you sure you don't want to go back and do morning show work? Video after the jump.

What's that little yap-yap motion she does with her hands in the beginning with Weezy is talking? Is that to let audiences in on the joke that she doesn't take him seriously either?

As a longtime fan of Weezy, I have to say, he's really been concerning me these last few years. He's not always been quite so incoherent and drugged. Say what you will about the man, but it's really sad.

As good as an artist he is. This interview kind of concerns me. He seems like hes on something here or is suffering the effects of drugs. Just a little bit of akward movements and way of speaking. Does anyone else see that?

He's a complete moron, and his music is terrible. It really is sad to see how stupid Americans are. Just look at the freaks they put on a pedestal.

People look up to this guy? Gangsters don't ask questions? Ha! No wonder gangsters are such ignorant followers.

He has struggled with drug addiction and has been very open with his sipping on syrup (the trend of adding codeine cough syrup to alcoholic beverages) habit. Let's cut this guy a break, this is a guy who had a lot of pain in his past. His own mother when he was 15 told him to get a girl pregnant because she wanted a grandbaby. He is surrounded by enablers and lets not forget he is a very young uneducated kid.

Many very well-educated people appreciate the art of Lil' Wayne. It's about pain, struggle, working for what you have, trying to get to the top, and trying to stay there once you get there. It's about abusive moms, dads, aunts and uncles; about rape and the consequences; about your baby's future and his baby's future; about taking care of your family and your neighborhood; about trying to eat and trying to keep the lights on; about community struggles and violence and peace; about the cops and addiction and your mom and her mom.

Don't hate on it because it's not the New Yorker, people. I read that too, and they're both trying to say the same thing. :)

I'm am an educated american and a huge fan of lil' Wayne. I think people often attack words as soon as they come out of our mouths because they are clueless about their meaning. Oh, and of course, if we don't agree with something or understand, it can't be right. Let's think about this…Gangsters don't ask questions. Could it be that he would never question some of the actions that Bush did (or didn't do) because they were so obviously wrong? Why question this man who was in control of the free world? What's that gonna do for lil' wayne? How much housing and assistance is that gonna provide to Katrina victims in 2009? He is from the streets. People from the streets don't question why they live in government housing, why there is no food in their cabinets, etc. Not much analysis and debate goes on there. They are at most, trying to survive just like the victims in Katrina. No time for writing a letter to your local senator from your attic with water up to your neck. Sorry questioning BUSH isn't priority. What can he do now that he didn't do then….So no, gangstas don't ask questions. And by the way he is a celebrity and gangsta is just an image that makes money. Let us remember a rapper is also an artist(not to be confused with a role model for your kids…use your own judgement people) and sometimes they think outside the box. He is brilliant and I completely understand what he is saying. Do I live by it?NO. Do I agree with it? NO. Do I love his music?YES. I can see his point of view.

We don't look up to him. The only person I look up to is GOD. I admire his artistry. You may not be in to it.

Ok did yall just see the same clip i did? The man is a musical genius and every thing he put his voice to will sale millions. How is a gangster suppose to act, look, talk. and just because he stays in his swag and wont slip dose not mean his troubled or that his coming off a drug. He is real and to a fake person with no swag no game no G in them and to know nothing about the hood or what he did to be where he is, i bet A Nigga like that would put that hate in you. So say what you like ya'll his records still gone make millions and 9 times out of 10 ya'll gone buy them.

Did anyone see Katie Couric talking about her interview on Regis & Kelly? Apparently she was 'scared' of him.

Lol you are all fucking stupid. You admire his artistry? He uses autotune and doesn't rhyme. How can you even compare shit like this to anything Ghostface or Nas make. Carter III is supposedly a masterpiece, but is anyone going to tell me it could hold Illmatic's jock strap?

And lets not act like he had a rough upbringing, the guy was signed to a record label in his early teens if not before. His mom was fucked up, but you would think his "Daddy" Birdman would have said something about getting a girl pregnant so his mom can have a grandchild is fucking moronic. The man has had money for a long time, and he was never a gangster pushin 2 for 5 rocks on the street so he can have some CREAM in his pocket. He is an image, nothing more, nothing less.
