Jessica Simpson Sends Mixed Messages

simpson02

This "Jessica Simpson is fat story" has already been run into the ground with different tabloids taking their stance in Fattie versus Chubby, 2009. And although there have been a lot of vocal supporters of Jessica (because when you gain weight, you need all the support you can get, am I right fellas???), the best statement so far came from Kim Kardashian, which is never a good thing. The bubble-butted celebritante stated, "'Call me crazy, but when I saw the picture, I was, like, 'Oh, my God, Jessica looks hot!'" Wait…women with over 7% body fat can be considered attractive by American standards? Mon bleu!

With that in mind, lets try to figure out what's wrong with this sentence.

In her first performance since the flap over her figure, Jessica Simpson strutted across a Virginia stage in skin-tight leather pants Thursday night and lamented the world's "completely pointless" focus.

If you felt the need to vomit after the comma, you are correct. Now would be the perfect time for Simpson to rail against Hollywood's unrealistic beauty standards, but instead she has to make herself the butt of a joke by wearing leather pants (what??) that left nothing to the imagination, and the world's "completely pointless" focus, as if the entire universe really cared if she packed on a couple.

Between Oprah talking about her weight and Jessica Simpson putting on a few pounds (and still as pretty as she always was, and very sexy)- the truth is starting to leak out about what women all over the world go through. Normal is not less than 100 pounds for an adult woman. It is ABnormal and models are not to be emulated. They are desirable in the fashion world because, frankly, they look like adolescent boys and considering the sexual proclivities of most of the MALE designers, well…. we know what THAT is all about.

i never thought i would say this but she is right; the fact that people are calling her fat is ridiculous;don`t we have anything better to talk about?

why is it okay to make fun of skinny people and put them down in the media and this is hurtful to to the person the media lashes out on who is skinny , but mention someone is fat everyone takes offense to it…both are hurtful…its not fair…

to HMS…it's not only because they look like teen boys (which I TOTALLY believe) it's also because the clothes hang on skinny women like…well, like they would on a hanger. straight up and down.

But she ISN'T the average woman.

She doesn't sing well, or act well (she can barely talk), and her sole purpose is to look unatainable.
And she's no longer doing a good job at that.

Celebrities are not celebrities(notice I didn't say 'actors' or 'singers') because they posess the kind of face and body that you can see at Walmart any day.

She signed up to be famous for nothing but her body (and apparently she's even to stupid to have understood that).

That's it. She can't have it both ways.

"but instead she has to make herself the butt of a joke by wearing leather pants (what??) that left nothing to the imagination,"

Jessica can wear whatever the heck she wants. You're saying because the media is focused on her weight gain, she should cover up what she's got? She looks damn sexy in those leather pants, and she should wear em if it makes her happy.

If she wore a miu miu, I assume she would also be the butt of the jokes, and be deemed as "insecure" to hide her fuller figure. She can't win either way.

SHAME ON YOU!

I don't think she's sending mixed signals at all. Why would a perfectly healthy and style-conscious woman shy away from fashionable leather pants (that look good on her, might I add) because some of the media say she's fat? Honestly, did you just run out of fodder for your page today, Jossip?

If focusing on her body is "pointless" how else can you describe her "career"? She loved in when she was thinner, it is the only reason she is famous.

whoa…while I don't think she's fat (though certainly heavier than her Dukes days), those pants do NOT look good on her.

she needed a larger size to fit over her thighs, and they're therefore too long…the way they bunch up from the top of the knee down doesn't look good.

other than the pants-size issue, I think she looks OK.

@ #3 Kaelie, I agree with you.
A side effect of all this media focus on body image is the double standard of which you speak.

I am slightly underweight, and have trouble putting weight on. Complete strangers have on more than one occasion taken it upon themselves to give me their opinion on my appearance.

How about accepting EVERYBODY the way they are, or failing that, just keeping your damn opinions to your self from time to time.

And quit it with the "eat a sandwich" bit. It's tired, stale and offensive. That's why I don't want to eat it…
