Michael Phelps Backlash-Backlash!

Oh awesome. Some weed dealers advocacy groups over at Facebook are going to boycott Kellogg's for pulling Michael Phelps from their campaign.

"Kellogg's dismissal of Phelps is hypocritical and disgusting, and our members are angrier than I've ever seen them," Marijuana Policy Project executive director Rob Kampia said. "Kellogg's had no problem signing up Phelps when he had a conviction for drunk driving, an illegal act that could actually have killed someone. To drop him for choosing to relax with a substance that's safer than beer is an outrage, and it sends a dangerous message to young people."

Some of these weed dealers are angrier than Rob's ever seen them! They're actually considering, like, doing something about this. Until they realized they wouldn't be able to make Pot Krispie Treats without Kellogg's.

The sad part is that the general public will forgive A-Hole for his steroid abuse yet make an example out of Phelps. So why is A-Hole not belittled and maligned for being such a lousy role-model for the little darlins? I think roid use is far worse than smokin a little of da weed (in private) compared to shooting up and then playing in front of thousands. I am with the doobies on this one. Enough of the double standard!

100 million Americans have used marijuana, according to government surveys. That's nearly half the adult population. Do you really think all those people are "weed dealers"? Given that marijuana is demonstrably safer than alcohol, maybe a little less snark is appropriate.

I think when you're a professional blogger, at a certain point the snark becomes involuntary.

As for Phelps, I agree that his scapegoating for smoking a little pot is totally overblown. Unfortunately, by all accounts Phelps is a complete tool, publicly milking his newfound celebrity in an obnoxious, Luke Russert-esque way. So I say, lock the bastard up.
