Is Anyone Really Watching Campbell Brown?

The last time we heard anyone talk about this lady, it was as part of the triumvirate of "lady winners in media" during the election, which also included Katie Couric and Rachel Maddow. And while Brown did lob a couple hard wrenches in the GOP machine (and Tucker Bounds' head) Jeff Bercovici over at Portfolio observes that the ratings tell a very different story.

For the month of February to date (which for Nielsen's purposes actually began Jan. 26), No Bias is running not only behind The O'Reilly Factor and Countdown in its hour, but also behind Headline News's Nancy Grace, who's been surging in the ratings thanks to her coverage of Caylee Anthony. And while those other shows are all up year-over-year, No Bias drew 8 percent fewer total viewers and 20 percent fewer demo viewers than the network did a year ago. ("They should call it No Bias, No Bull, No Ratings," snipes a cable competitor — you can probably guess which one.)

Then again, as Jeff points out, last February included Super Tuesday, so CNN officials prefer to "officially" start the year last March…meaning that the year-to-date ratings shouldn't even be in yet.

No one wants to listen to what Campbell Brown has to say. She's a neophyte who has been told to make provocative statements so that CNN can "create a newsworthy commentator". How old is she? 30? If it were Judy Woodruff it would be a different story, but I'm betting that Judy would have none of it because she truly is a noteworthy newsperson and much too professional.

Right on, HMS. "No Bias, No Bull"?? Then just what the hell is it? Anyone watching can see (and hear) it's news and opinion according to Campbell. The sun rose today? Better check with Campbell first, just like all the others. BTW, I think she's closer to 40.

If I'm going to listen to someone make speeches, give sarcastic cracks, and spout self important opinions they better at least be smart, very knowledgeable, interesting and witty. I don't find Campbell to be any of those things. To make it worse she's abrasive.

Its fascinating how many people read into her the same way I do, but then again I'm as smarmy and self-righteous as Campbell is. Who isn't?
