Paul Zolezzi, a 30-year old heroin addicted aspiring model (sorry for the bunch of qualifiers) was found dead this morning after he hanged (hung?) himself in Prospect Park. He left his suicide note in the form of a Facebook status update. Suicide is always a horrible matter, but something about these rash of virtual deaths are somehow even more disturbing, because they invite the kind of blatant car-crash gawkerism that I'm sure this young man's family would like to avoid.
Because the first thing I wanted to do when I read this article was try to find this guy's Facebook page, which is a very normal impulse but really fucking morbid when you stop to think about it.

There's actually nothing wrong with that sort of curiosity. Sometimes it even means you're interested because you care. It's annoying that people bullshit and pretend they're so above it.
A person is "hanged"; a picture is "hung." That's the way I learned the difference.
I find these public suicides disturbing and I refuse to go to any site to watch or see it. If that annoys you, I'm sorry. I don't really think people "care" I just think they want to gawk and that's not civilized. These poor young people have probably spent their lives seeking attention from whomever and they finally get it. So sad.

Anyways, any who commits suicide did not want to be here any longer and they are happier where they are now. Period. 9 billion people is too much. Suicide is natural order of things.
