All across this troubled nation of ours, men and women of every age, race and social class are coming together to get up in arms about the New York Post dead monkey cartoon, and the NAACP is leading the charge. The civil rights organization over the weekend issued an ultimatum: either Post editor, Col Allan, and Post cartoonist, Sean Delonas, are fired, or the NAACP boycotts the paper and its sponsors.
We've already told you that we don't think the controversial cartoon is racist, but even if it is, is this really a hill people are choosing to die on? Many, many much more offensive things go on all the time, and without a single protestation from the NAACP. Here, six racist people and entities worth boycotting instead of one unfunny cartoonist and his cranky editor.
Bill O'Reilly
Bill O'Reilly's outright admission that he wants to see a "cap" on the number of illegal immigrants in this country in order to preserve the traditional "white, Christian, male power structure" is FUCKING INSANE, and it's just one of "the Factor" host's many egregiously bigoted statements. In fact, anymore, it's practically a matter of routine for O'Reilly go after young black men anytime an opportunity presents itself. That the NAACP has yet to really stand up to the cable news giant proves it is timid in the face of true power, no matter how ugly that power may be.
Ann Coulter
Sure, she's little more than a rusty, one-trick shock artist, but what do you think Sean Delonas is? And he doesn't even get into the homes of tens of millions of Americans with bestsellers and national news appearances.
Rush Limbaugh
This distended drug addict's shock tactics are worse than Ann Coulter's, only because we think he actually believes all the outrageous nonsense he spews; like that the song "Barack the Magic Negro," in which a jive-talking black character extols the merits of our new "magical" president, is nothing more than an innocuous little ditty. The NAACP's response to Rush? As it does with his ultra-rich and powerful counterpart Bill O'Reilly, the NAACP avoids confrontation with Limbaugh, instead demanding the head of a guy who drew a stupid monkey cartoon for a paper nobody reads outside of New York City.
McDonald's' "urban" commercials
If McDonald's is to be believed, black people won't purchase cheeseburgers and French fries unless they're somehow associated with catchy music and dancing; this is what marketing agencies think of black consumers. For further evidence, see "McNuggets Lovin'."
Kanye West
Kanye West's racism is especially insidious, as many people are under the impression it's alright for an African American to say things like, "One thing black people have going for them is their ability to wear lots of gold jewelry," and, "Black people look appropriate with rims." Oh really, you ignorant traitor? We guess George Bush isn't the only one who doesn't care about black people.
Boxing
Wealthy, white media moguls pay young black men to pummel each other for hooting crowds. Don King dances around talking in rhyme like a minstrel character. 'Nuff said.

Point taken. I do feel Bill O'Reilly trumps every other example of racism on that list though. Maybe it's because he isn't trying to cover it with jokes (like Coulter and Limbaugh), but it seems his racism is less a ploy for ratings and instead is actually embedded in his soul. It's gross.
Why must the cartoon issue be dropped? Why can't it be kept under consideration with the other six issues mentioned here?
Boxing? Unfair. I know you think the violence is unnaceptable, but where is your evidence that people watch it to see blacks in pain or making a fool of themselves? Maybe blacks just happen to excel at the sport and people just happen to enjoy boxing in general. You can't say that without at least providing ratings evidence or something showing people are more interested if the champs are black as opposed to whites who are just as good at slapping someone around.
yeah - try this website too for finding racism everywhere and pumping a left wing agenda…
http://www.jossip.com/
no- try Robert NYC for finding bullshit and assertions made with no rational arguments and shitty jokes and a username that annoys me but I don't really know why exactly and holy shit that username is bothering me and it was mighty kind of him to give an address because now I can stop looking for Chumpville on google maps
Bill O'Reilly is the worst, because he thinks his racist positons are reasonable and defensable. But…what am I saying? I think we all know that the kind of racism Bill O'Reilly is pushing deep down is anti-everyone-who-is-not-specifically-Bill-O'Reilly.
And PS, Bill, "changing the 'complexion' of America" is not a pun, it's a direct comment on the "complexion" of Americans.
I still believe the NYP cartoon was completely racist, but other than that, this article is right on target.
I'm sure the people who are boycotting the cartoon are not vociferously consuming Ann Coulter products to begin with.
please continue to scream race, racism, every minute of everyday.
Its already "white noise" (no racism, intended) to lots of people. Please continue to find EVERYTHING racist, it will soon become so deluded, that people will laugh and not even notice. There they go again!
@Rhonda:
Uh huh.
Der iz no raczsim for real?
Yeal!
You right!
Can you rule the world with your wiseness…????
@Rhonda: You are right Rhonda racism doesn't exist. Anytime anyone is discriminated against they are either imagining it or making it up. Congratulations you are one of those lucky few people born devoid of empathy.
You can't be serious. You think that Mickey D's commercial is racist, and yet, you don't believe the cartoon to be? I honestly have no way to determine what Jossip considers inside and outside the pale.
Again, why defend the NY Post? Why let an offensive and racist cartoon hide behind plausible deniability?
I think Jay Smooth has the best commentary on the whole situation:
http://www.illdoctrine.com/200.....rolls.html
All of the examples noted are racist — and so is the NYP cartoon. I think the issue is more about picking one's battles… and it appears Bill O'Reilly needs smacking before the Post cartoonist.
Oh yeah, you are on to something here. Yes, "the NAACP avoids confrontation with Limbaugh…" as well as O'Reilly. And calling out Kanye West and the boxing "sport"?! This from Jossip? Thanks, "cord", whoever you are. Very well done.
Kanye says his success is do to the fact that he DIDNT go to school for clothing bla bla………but in the same sentence he talks about the MANY people who DID that advise him on ALL of his clothing developement.
Money and stardom buy ideas. Next he will open up a chain of resturants like everyone else……and it will suck just like the rest of them.
Oh gee thanks jossip for telling me what I should and shouldn't find offensive. Please put it into a pie chart so a feeble brain like mine might better understand it.
John and Getreal,
You really read will, but you need a little work in the comprehension department. No where in my post does it say racism doesn't exist, my arguement is simple. If you scream racism about EVERYTHING it becomes deluded and noone listens. My other point is you can't be a "protected" class of people while calling other sectors of the population names. I don't want America to resemble other parts of the world, where they cut off your head over a stupid cartoon. We are Americans, we are not babies, who have to riot in the streets over a STUPID CARTOON!
it's "diluted", rhonda.
@Rhonda: No one is asking to be a protected class they are just being asked to be treated with a modicum of respect. The tone of your posts reveal a disdain for certain groups of people. People SCREAMING racism for instance it is not a hysterical act people have a right to their perception. As far as being a protected class while calling people names I am not a protected class and I would NEVER call people names based on their difference. Rhonda I don' think you mean to be ignorant, hurtful, or racist but you seem to judge a large diverse group of people by stereotypes and the actions of an ignorant few. If you don't have anything constructive and adult to add to the dialogue why are you here? I'm straight but I don't tell gays that homophobia doesn't exist or that they are being babies and to grow up in the face of bigotry and discrimination. If you can't empathize with the struggles of others that is your cross to bear but to post for the purpose of inciting people is among other things a waste of your time.
Getreal,
There you are, I knew you couldn't be far behind:) I'm really more a political junkie than a racist. You can ask my nieces. I'll be in Chicago for the Tea Party, you can meet them.
I work with people who struggle to stand up, maybe that is why I get impatient with people who "cry" over stuff they have no control over as in race and sexual id.
My dad always had this saying whenever we got whiney: I cried because I had no shoes until I saw a man who had no feet
I know, I hated it too!
Well,
I will say that black folk, people, african americans ect ect need stop crying abour racisim. To be real (no pun intended) shut the hell up. Im so tired of blacks getting away with everything from comedy (only DL Hugh) to crime and the excuse is "Im black…."
DL is one of those comics thats nowhere near funny, its more of a hatred aimed at whites that he slips in a joke or two.
The cartoon………. fuck it, I dont care if he DID mean blacks look like monkeys. NO COMIC EVER talks about white people WITHOUT adding a high pitched, feeble, stick up the ass voice while impersinating whites. If a white comic did a "black" person the ACLU and black leaders would cry racism.
I wouldnt be a cop OR a teacher in the inner citys, screw that, every minority wants to take a lawsuite against you if you're white or a white owned company (yea, Ive seen it, Ive had to be EXTRA sansitive to blacks because its always "WHAT DID YOU MEAN BY THAT!!!!???"
I call it Black insecuity that has ONLY been forced upon blacks BY blacks. Blacks want to force feed the history of slavery to where an 18 year old feels isolated (within his culture because we all know what school was like right, everyone sticks to their clicks) and then has a certain attitude towards the "MAN" and who is the "MAN"………..WHITE PEOPLE……never any Africans who SOLD them into slavery also. (everyone was quilty)
I have to endure Jokes and blatent Racism from black comics, PEOPLE, because of MY skin, and my family DIDNT own any slaves!!!!
To prove my point ( AND I LOVEEEEE TELLING THIS ) I am a funny guy, I love being funny because races because its SOOO stupid and in the military WE do joke ON EACH other and its like two brother (blood I mean) razzing each other, we would die for each other. Well, ONE day I met my new neighbor and after a month I was joking and I said something like "merry Kwanza" and he asked me why I said that and I told him straight up thats how I joke but if he didnt think it was funny, thats cool. He said ok, I just thought you MAY be racist.
He told me about how when he was a teenager in New Orleans how EVERY Martin Luther King day he and his friend would go jump any white guys that they could find JUST because of what happened to MLK.
I said "You know, thats sad man, how many cool people did YOU turn into a racist??"
To me, Black people dont care what everyone else thinks about them but yet complain when its a NEGATIVE view, because a NEGATIVE image was put out there. It showed when Cosby tried to call light on the issue, he was treated with disdain because blacks dont want to say "OUR culture has issue that are NOT caused by the WHITE MAN, its caused by Kanye and all these other "role models" that are teaching our kids BS"
NO WHITE PEOPLE say Nigger CONSTANTLY…….. I heard it 4 times at the high school today, YELLED out as if NO ONE has ANY home training.
Blame it on me……….you will find an excuse to.
As a woman who can usually find the middle ground on issues, I can see the points of both sides here. While dude's rant was filled with such awful grammatical errors that it couldn't merely be typos, he makes SOME valid points. So does Rhonda.
When racism is suggested as the motivation for criminal allegations etc., I think after a while the word begins to lose its meaning. Racism is a powerful word, and to suggest that someone is being it is quite damaging. Look at poor old Don Imus. I certainly have heard black comedians freely making comments about how ridiculous white people are. I can often find the humor in their statements and laugh along with them if the joke is actually funny. Bill Maher can insult all religions, D.L. Hughley and Chris Rock can insult whitey's dancing skills, and gays are pretty fair game…but there seems to be a line drawn when it comes to making comical observations about stereotypes regarding AFrican Americans. I have seen African American comics make the most awful comments about Middle Eastern people as well, making fun of their language, their murderous insanity etc. I wonder what sort of public outcry would come if such blatantly racist musings came from, say, John Stewart. It's a double standard..but whatever..I like my comedy high brow anyway and repeating decades old stereotypes really doesn't tickle my pickle.
The point is, I do think making a racist issue out of EVERY SMALL THING is damning to situations that might be truly racist. It makes racism seem so common place when I feel that it is truly not. I think there is a difference between a true hateful racist and somebody who may just be a little ignorant to what is offensive and what isn't.
I just hope one day in this country we can all make fun of each other with equal rights, stop this unnecessary sensitivity, and start recognizing when racism truly is an issue. (as with Cord's noting Pill popping Rush Limbaugh and Kanye "brink of down syndrome" West.)
@Caroline: In my experience it is people who have never personally been a victim of discrimination who assume those who do are oversensitive. In my opinion black/white/jewish/gay/straight etc. etc. etc. jokes are never funny or appropriate no matter who is making them. People commenting on blacks enjoying the N word there was actually a formal funeral for the N word last year because there are A LOT of black people who feel it is always hurtful and inappropriate. Chris Rock does not speak for me. I believe in treating my fellow human beings with respect and that should not be difficult if you can honestly call yourself a good person. The argument that black people are not allowed to feel hurt by racism and the N word because an ignorant percentage who uses it is confusing and silly. I would never dream of telling a Jewish friend that anti-semitism isn't a big deal because Gilbert Gottfied calls himself a dirty h**b. All any of us can control is our own conduct. As an American who makes a good living, came from an upper middle class background, and was born with a lot of blessings I still believe in empathizing with people who have different backgrounds and points of view.
Man, I want to fucking screem at black people who ASSume JUST because a person is white, they cant have EVER experianced racism………..cause, racism only happens to black people…all the other brownies they are just made fun of because they talk funny? Right?
I am so damn tired of defending WHITE people to BLACK people who are just so damn selfish. Everything is about YOU right?
NO, CHRIS ROCK DOES SPEAK FOR YOU. YOU are not OFF the hook. White people have been fucked on the racism issue and WE STILL try to turn the other cheek, STILL try to PERSECUTE other white who even TREAD on your sensativity issue. Don Imus is a good man, and we hung him out to dry in the sun, left him for dead as a scapegoat, a sacrifice to Jessie and boo' hoo'ers.
I have been ALL around the world. Grew up dating black women and got HELL from OTHER black men because they felt insecure or were just pissed because a good black woman didnt want to deal with their BS. Plenty of fights, plenty of AWKWARD looks in BLACK clubs.
Called WIGGER by blacks and white, just because the majority of my friends were NOT white? As if I WANT to be black because blacks are SO proud themselves they WANT you to know that whitey woudnt have ANY music if it werent for them and the music we DO have, we stole from blacks. The IMAGE we have, we steal from black culture………. LMFAO
Kanye is sporting a polo shirt…..I believe whitey had the Boats first (thats a funny play on slavery)
I can dance, still cant play basketball though..1 out of 2 aint bad.
When Americans who JUST happen to be black start to understand that slavery was terrible but I wouldnt change it for anything. It made us the nation we are now. It forced us to move into the future with GREAT men and women who were willing to say "THIS IS WRONG" and now, our Constitution has made itself true to the fact that founding father KNEW they didnt KNOW it all, and with TIME, WE as a nation would change our morals and ethics for the BETTER of OUR nation.
Be blessed to be black in America!! I am blessed NOT to be WHITE in Africa.
You are too if you have ever been there. I have, three times. Black Africans dont like Black Americans because they see Americans that are black, NOT as REAL Africans and they dispise the black culture in America because they see it as NOT of their level of respect and has taken NOTHING from real African culture. They also see black Americans as "Lucky and dont even know it!"
Americans who are black go to the BEST parts of Africa like Oprah and Whitney and think that THAT is Africa? Far from it. The real Africa is like it was 300 years ago.
If you werent from the FARRR east Africa, You aint no NUBIAN Goddess. Thats like me moving to France and saying MY people were millionares. Huh? I'm not related to Bill Gates. Dont live anywhere near him. Dont party on his boat, dont fly in his jet.
Reality bites when you THINK you dont have a culture and decide LATE in the game that you want to choose Africa. Black American who DIDNT live in the mid 70's up, never cared about Africa as a whole, they were too busy FIGHTING to be American. Shame, all that effort to be forgotten and the only thing we teach and focus on is SLAVERY and the PRESENT complaints.
I am going to tell you a secret that the "Whitey" are holding out on Black American because it not worth they jobs, buisness, being stigmatized..ect ect;
During Huricane Katrina, I was there. Lived through it. NONE of us who WERE there left because WE didnt think it was going to be that bad, we deal with 4 a year. EVERYONE had a chance to leave and if they didnt, blame the Black mayor who sat on HIS ass and has NEVER done anything good for New Orleans. He is an idiot to blame the Federal Governement when HE has the POWER to grab EVERY single bus and USE it to get people out.
DID HE? Oh yes, AFTER!! When the FEDS said WE WILL HELP, DURRING the storm, HIM and the Govener help back because they wanted total control and DIDNT want Bush to "Reep the Rewards" for saving New Orleans. THEY held out and PEOPLE died.
Class 101 on the US Governmen, STATEs are their OWN STATE!! They have independant powers so that THE Federal Governemnt DOESNT control the WORLD!!! They have to ask for help if its not offered, and they have to accept the terms of the FED's. Which is usually Martial Law. NO and I repeat!!!!! NO American troops can be used on US soil unless the State and the Fed's AGREE to that help. The military is INDEPENDANT of the States and by that, NOT BIASED. So, if California wants to INVADE Arizona, who steps it???? THE FED Government WHICH at the Commander and Chief (The President) he has at his aid, the Armed Forces.
Sound like history?
But to the main and SAD fact; I knew 3 different companies who were rebuilding New Orleans withing months. They passed out fliers, made people aware that there we jobs. These jobs were paying GOOD money, REAL good, to clean trash, haul stuff. They were wanting anyone with a heartbeat.
One company owner came back from the Job Office where anyone could walk in, state run office. He said "Its sickening to see not ONE black, but 40 mexicans, 40 whites and New Orleans is a MAJORITY black city! Like 80% and the ones who are still here are black?"
Why, because Red Cross was handing out free money and no one wanted to work, people came home, no one wanted to work……Dont let anyone fool you, the Mayor of New Orleans STILL has the majority of the re-builing cash….billions..
No one wants to work and the people who ARE doing most of the labor, are mexicans who are not documented (as the new PC goes)
So, Chris and Kanye DO represent you, because YOU are not getting together with the black community and telling him to shut his mouth or you wont buy his CD. Its ok to NOT support EVERY black who gets up and says ignorant shit.
@Dude: I'm sorry life has been so hard and you are so angry. I don't know you and am not responsible for hurting you. If you are so dissatisfied with things I would suggest volunteer work that helps me feel that I'm personally helping this country. It is easy to complain not so easy to actually do something to improve this country. If you were you would probably be a lot happier. Good luck and I'll pray for you.
Thank you.
