The Dead Monkey Cartoonist's Fine Art Attempts

paintphix

Most people recognize Sean Delonas only as the hated cartoonist at the center of the dead monkey debacle. Few know that the doughy Post illustrator also dabbles in fine art. That is, if your definition of "fine" includes updated Renaissance-style portraits, morbid still lifes (complete with bullet hole-cracked skulls), examinations on lizard evolution and, oh yeah, a novelty sweatshirt-ish painting of a fat Elvis mouse and Beatles mice rocking a big mouse party.

His technical abilities are admirable; we'll leave it up to you to judge his mental state.

You know…the artist is not just left up to whatever they want to do and poof! publish. They almost always work with an art director, and often submit multiple ideas that get worked into the final. While I don't know the specifics here, it is likely that a number of people beyond the artist are responsible for the image at the center of the firestorm.
