The Future of Political Comedy

Dwayne Johnson was actually remarkably funny during SNL this week, especially in The Rock Obama sketch, but we found the Secretary Treasury of State Tim Geithner's cold open to be much more revealing. Video after the jump.

Once again, we find that Saturday Night Live is getting increasingly esoteric in their political humor about the current administration. Andy Samberg's Rahm Emanuel impression always kills it, and Keenan Thompson being mind-controlled by Rush Limbaugh during Weekend Update was pretty good, but its safe to say that we had nothing to worry about for lack of dark comedy in the political climate. Thank god, we were really worried there for a minute that our government was going to run on hopes and dreams and there would be nothing to make fun about.

I definitely preferred The Rock Obama. That sketch was hilarious:

Loved "The Rock" Obama. This cold open could have been two separate sketches though. It was a good concept but it went on way too long.

But that sports show sketch with Bill Hader was fucking amazing. I'm sitting at my desk giggling about it like a fool.
