Back to the Future: The 90s Are Here Again
 

The early millennium has been punctuated by ironic retro fashion from the 80s as hipsters discovered nostalgia. But the times are a'changing and now is the time to put away our moon boots, Goonie t-shirts, and our love of Synthpop in order to move ahead. It's already happening you guys: We've moved forward (backward?) to the 90s. Below, the warning signs that we're entering the Friends territory all over again.

 

Jam Bands

 

I laughed at my friend who went to the kickoff of Phish's reunion tour in Hampton, VA. Because really, Phish? Are you stoned or something? Apparently yes, considering that almost 200 people were arrested during the weekend for drug possession and distribution. But also, the coverage of this show was insane: Papers can't afford a D.C. or Baghdad bureau, but AP can send a senior editor on an expense-paid weekend to write about a jam band? Sweet, brah. Whatever, please just let us not go back to ska.
