Purim Is Like Our Racist Halloween/Christmas

This little lad is raising money for some charity, as per Purim custom. Of course, the black-face and dreads probably won't get net him a lot of cash over in Borough Park, but looking into his dirty, innocent face tells us that at least in his mind, he's paying tribute to our president, not representing centuries of racism.

…so you're saying the end justifies the means? I see. Thanks for clearing that up.

Ummm…I have no idea where you got this picture. You obviously have no idea what Purim is, because it has pretty much nothing to do with dressing up in blackface (which is obviously abhorrent) or any of the often-offensive costumes of halloween - it is a holiday celebrating (like most Jewish holidays), the thwarting of a potential genocide, by the story's heroine, Esther. Young children eat special hamantaschen cookies and dress up like characters of the plot (Esther, Haman, etc.).

Please don't use some random picture to misrepresent an entire religion by falsely implying that this holiday is in some way racist. If anything, it is a holiday celebrating the way oppressed people have succeeded in surviving racism and hatred. I realize this posting was meant to be tongue in cheek, but most people probably have little knowledge of Purim to start with, so this is not only untrue, but also unfair.
