Al Gore to Release Another Preachy Book

al-gore_phixr

If anyone has the right to be pessimistic, it's Al Gore, the former veep who's been both robbed of a presidency and scoffed at by nutcases who don't believe in climate change. Nevertheless, Gore, whose soft-spoken demeanor belies his rugged last name, presses on with the idealism. Here comes another book:

…"Our Choice," will be released in November, printed on 100 percent recycled paper. The book, which proposes solutions to the global warming crisis documented in "Inconvenient Truth," was called "The Path to Survival" when first announced two years ago.

We would have taken The Path to Survival over Our Choice, but isn't it weird how they both sound like names for white power bands?

I'd like to point out, if I may, that there is a BIG difference between "climate change" and the theory Gore preaches on "man-made climate change". Idiots scoff at the idea of "climate change" while intelligent people who are interested in discovering the truth through scientific inquiry question (not scoff) the idea of "man-made climate change".

I'm all for the Gore-Brigade though, because even if he is wrong he is doing good by getting people interested in how their actions affect the environment and encouraging them to make positive changes.

Here is an easy-to-read journal article on global climate change: http://docs.google.com/gview?a.....&pli=1

@spottsy: Your link does not work, but if I am correct in your assertion that I am idiotically scoffing at the idea of climate change, let me enlighten and educate you.

This is not about IDEAS (rhetoric) but about empirical evidence. There is none.

CO2 is first of all a trace gas. It composition of the atmosphere depending on altitude is between 0.036% and 0.039% (that’s 36 thousandths and 39 thousandths of a percent for you 99.6ers). Comparatively speaking if the whole of the atmosphere were a 10 gallon tank of water, that amount of CO2 would equate to 3 teaspoons of water. Of the total amount of CO2 in the atmosphere, 14% can be attributed to man-made-outputs, fossil fuels, exhaust, flatulence etc. Again comparing this to the total 10 gallon tank of atmosphere, our contribution of CO2 would equal approx. an 1/8 of a teaspoon of water.

This so-called greenhouse gas moniker applied by climatologist, ranks CO2 a distant second (9%) behind the number one greenhouse gas, H2O/water vapor (72%).

Second, the data that so-called climatologist have used to support their "theories" spans only 50 to 100 years of semi-scientific data. As the Germans would say, this equates to an "augenblick" of the total of the earth's climate data. Even the worst of scientists would dismiss this lack or data as insufficient, except for global warming.

Third, the accuracy rate of climatological and meteorological predictions over a span of 48 hours is ~37%. And we trust these guys to predict what is going to happen 100 years from now?? How many of you would go to a doctor if he/she were right 37% of the time??

I have much more scoffing idiotic empirical evidence and some rhetoric if you like, but I am going to smash the so-called ball onto your side of the court for you to respond.

Please respond with empirical data and not rhetorical talking-points.

I'll save everyone twenty-five bucks and the time to reading "Our Choice" by revealing the surprise ending:

"global warming is bullshit" and surprise "so is man made climate change".

I guess my previous post wasn't clear. I was suggesting that idiots will say "climate change isn't real" (which it is - ice ages to temperate periods should be proof enough). I went on to say that intelligent people will question the idea of "man-made climate change" - the theory that our CO2 emissions are responsible for climate change. I agree with everything you typed.

The whole reason I typed anything at all was to bring to light that "climate change" and "man-made climate change" are not the same things, and I suppose when they are used interchangeably it annoys me a little bit.

I wish my link worked, I have no idea how to find it any other way. It's a really good article explaining the argument for why the climate change that so many people are saying is man-made, really probably isn't.

@spottsy: Thanks. That link does work and the data support is right on. Global Warming is largely attributed to the SUN!!

Other data, (which the chicken-little media avoids), actually show that global temperatures peaked in 1998 and have been declining slowly but steadily since. Regional anomalies have bounced hemispherical data slightly upward such as the extended droughts and heat in the West and Southeast US, East Central Africa and Southeast Australia. These are largely the cause of extended El Nino/Ninas not CO2.

Also just released this week, a calibration error in a NOAA satellite was detected recently that shifted the sea level predictions in the next 100 years out now to 1000 years. OOPS!! It must have been the same guys that calibrated Km instead of miles into the NASA satellite software commands that crashed on Mars in 1999. Just another minor government error; only $125 million, chump change.

None of this precludes us from being diligent in our mission as good stewards of our planet; we must. However, it does expose the hypocrisy of the climate 99.6er alarmists/elitists and their dictatorial efforts to influence our livelihoods!

Wow, I can't believe all the venom here towards Mr Gore. He is doing good things. Why all this animosity? I guess if i called myself "James Lovelock's Accidental Student" (google the term) and told you that by 2500 most of humanity will be forced to live in so called "polar cities" ( google that term ), some readers here will also be annoyed. Don't be annoyed. Face facts. We are headed into a long Long Emergency. Now. Wake up.

You need to "wake up" my friend and stop believing the rhetoric by paying attention to the empirical data.

Even if you don't believe in climate change or global warming, it is not necessary to hate on someone who is trying to do some good. Besides, global warming and ozone depletion has been a topic of concern long before Al Gore "popularized" it. I think that recycling, reducing carbon emissions, etc. is good for the Earth. Less garbage…cleaner air…I'm in.

Al Gore is running a massive self-enrichment scam and the greenies actually believe his nonsense. The amount of manmade CO2 in the atmosphere is one one hundredth of one percent. Hardly catastrophic. Completely incapable of changing anything about the climate. When the globe warms it is due to natural cycles. When it cools, as it has been for the last 10 years, it is also from natural cycles. Climate changes. That is what it does. It has been changing one way or another since forever. Al Gore and the IPCC's bs does not relate to any scientific reality. The science is bogus computer models that couldn't predict their way out of a recycles paper bag.

In regards to the ozone issue, the prime mover and alarmist on the ozone issue was Dr Susan Solomon. She happens to now be a prime alarmist at the IPCC pushing the global warming issue. She is a professional alarmist. Here is a question. We banned CFCs 30 years ago to halt our supposed impact on the ozone layer. Why is it still an issue? We solved that thirty years ago did we not? CFCs have been banned at a huge cost to the economy. It's a done deal isn't it?

And now Dr Susan Solomon and the IPCC and Al Gore want us to spend literally trillions of dollars of fix global warming. Al's poised to personally make billions and Susan Solomon is poised to be the next hero on global warming. Sounds awfully fishy to me.

@Jen: Jen, Jen, Jen, read my posts and quit swallowing the rhetorical propaganda.

No one is suggesting that climatic temps do not cycle up and down. It is the fringe-environmentalists that want dictate policy and regulate what you can and cannot do to service an agenda not save the planet, this is the scam.

Environmentalist gloom and doom scenarios in my lifetime that have not materialized up to the hype:

1. Late 1970s (1978-1979) - Global Cooling an impending disaster of a new ice-age.
2. 1980s - Acid rain was going to kill all the little fishies and froggies and wipe out the North American forests by the year 2000. Never happened.
3. 1990s - Ozone holes would have us all baking and dying of skin cancer (where did the holes disappear to?)
4. 2000s - Global Warming - Oh my God, the remainder of us from the 70s, 80s, and 90s are now finished!! Darn I thought I was going to survive it all!!

By the way I would rather believe in God and not the environment. But we need to still be good stewards of it because it is our duty not our sole purpose.

@DONT TREAD ON ME: Thank you for being a good steward of the Earth and treating it nicely. Despite whatever agenda the "fringe environmentalists" may preach per decade, the root of message is about cleanliness and accoutability. The other fear mongering they do is the same scare tactics the media and talking heads always do to get ignorant people in action (not saying I agree with it).

A graduation speech to the class of 2099, re Gore's new book and other climate messages? See the youtube video on the link here. Just click on my name. I asked Al for a comment and his office replied thusly:

"Dear Danny,

Thank you for your kind request. Unfortunately, Mr. Gore's schedule is
extremely overbooked and we're unable to offer any availability. With Mr.
Gore's travel and work schedule booked fully throughout the year, it's very
difficult to decline invitations such as yours, but it's an unfortunate
inevitability of the growing influence of the climate crisis message and the
demand on Mr. Gore's time. We do apologize, but thanks for your interest.
