John D'Arcy, the Catholic Bishop of South Bend, Indiana, is refusing to attend Notre Dame's commencement ceremonies this year in order to protest the politics of the commencement speaker, Barack Obama. D'Arcy, who believes in walking on water and men living to 900 years old but not scientific research to help save lives, says Obama's policy decisions concerning abortion and stem cell research prove the president's "unwillingness to hold human life as sacred."

It's not possible to be a man of God, believe in the sanctity of life (both thru abortion and stem cells) and then celebrate a man who believes in neither. Nearly 80,000 catholics have joined that protest. It will be interesting if ND cancels.
