Obama: Give It Up, Stoners

van_gogh_-_skull_with_a_burning_cigarette

Sorry, potheads, your favorite vice shall remain an illegal one for at least another four years (or until you move to California and assure your doctor you have "insomnia"). In an online town hall today, Barack Obama spoke definitively about one of the most popular Internet questions he gets: Why won't you legalize weed so everyone can get very sto—I mean, uh, so everyone can use it to help stabilize the economy? After making fun of the online audience for being so obsessed with dope – "I don't know what this says about the online audience" – Obama then said it ain't gonna happen: "The answer is, no, I don't think that is a good strategy to grow our economy. So — all right…" Move on with your lives!

Cord,

I do not understand how or why you or the president find this issue to be irrelevant. Even if these people were the stupid stoners you and the president have painted them out to be, is it not an important issue that we have to right to choose what we do with our own bodies? Do you really think that legalizing the largest cash crop in this country would not have some positive affect upon the economy? To think otherwise seems completely illogical.

If stoners were the lazy, apathetic, losers that people painted them to be then why would they have such a passionate concern for this issue? How would their lazy asses even know that Obama was taking suggestions for questions for an online town hall meeting? It just seems preposterous to me that this issue isn't given any attention by this supposedly "forward thinking" man.

I wonder how the gay community would have reacted had Obama laughed off their passion to marry one another. I mean…when it boils down to it, doesn't it fall under the same umbrella of civil liberties that marijuana does? And yes, I am a passionate supporter of people who love each other to have the right to make that love legal, no matter sexual orientation. I'm not comparing marijuana to love…I just feel like it shouldn't be brushed under the fucking rug. It truly offends me as a non-violent, passionate, educated, proactive, worthwhile citizen and marijuana smoker that President Obama laughs off even considering this issue.

Do you not think it's an incredible injustice that there are thousands and thousands of people rotting in prison for committing non-violent petty marijuana offenses??? You think taking these poor innocent people off of the tax payers dime wouldn't help the economy at all?

According to many polls I have seen lately, a majority of Americans do not care whether or not people smoke marijuana. It doesn't affect anybody and if there's a market for it…WHY THE FUCK NOT!!!

I know why…because as Bill Hicks said…the GOVERNMENT WANTS TO TAKE AWAY ANY DRUG THAT MAKES YOU REALIZE THAT YOU ARE BEING FUCKED EVERY SINGLE DAY OF YOUR LIFE!

Let them drink beer, at least it doesn't make them question the status quo.

Caroline: Thank you. Your logic is, well, logical. If all the pot smokers were to actually come out of the closet and show up at the White House some fine day, I suspect their numbers would be higher than those at the inauguration. It's time to stop subjecting smokers to blanket discrimination. It's legalized in 13 states, for God's sake. It doesn't have to be processed, ingested with chemicals, sugar coated, or distilled to be palatable. It's not for everyone, but neither is alcohol.

I am seething and enraged. I did NOT vote for this guy to create a crushing debt to saddle my grandchildren with. I did NOT vote for him to give billions and billions of taxpayer's to greedy, irresponsible corporations and to give millions of dollars in bonuses for their greedy and incompetent executives.

No, I voted his butt into office for one reason, and one reason alone…. to end the War on Drugs and free us from a prison state. And now he laughs and mocks the whole thing. OUTRAGEOUS!!!

And now I hear he has unleashed his DEA goons on another dispensary raid! How rich is that?

That's ok though, no problem. At least we now know who he REALLY is. Anyone who still thinks this guy is about changing the prison state should have just received a wake-up call. If you still believe in this guy, you are a fool. While I readily admit that he is still better than McCain would have been in this area, at least McCain wouldn't have tripled the deficit in his first two months in office!

I am quite simply disguted with Mr. Obama. I will no longer support his hypocritical administration. I pledge that I will fight tooth and nail to oppose ALL of his policies in the future.

Thanks for nothing there Mr. "President".

CNN Edits Out Pot Purchase from D.L. Hughley's Final Show

The final "D.L. Hughley Breaks the News" was taped at CNN's New York studios this afternoon. And it appears CNN higher-ups forced an edit on producers. TVNewser reports, "a large section of a segment about marijuana legalization" was edited out of the final broadcast.

Hughley recently visited a marijuana dispensary in Oakland, California after his doctor had written him a prescription for medicinal marijuana. Hughley apparently has chronic back pain.

But that portion will not be shown during the segment on the final show. A CNN spokesperson tells TVNewser, "We always edit pieces to conform to our editorial standards."

The final "Hughley" airs Saturday night at 10pmET.

Okay everybody, on the way to burn down AIG, stop by CNN.Hughley_3.27.jpg

Let's not depict reality on the news. God forbid the ratings suffer. Americans don't really need to know the truth, after all, do they? Chicken shit CNN.

I am also very disappointed in Obama. I mean, he laughed it off! Not cool. And it seriously WOULD help the economy. The largest cash crop in th country going LEGAL? The taxes alone, just think of it…. And more people put to work growing and distributing it… A great way for cigarette/tobacco companies to move to a healthier crop and save lives, too.

@Gaffe Biden:

What a bigot! One day you might wake up out of your sheltered little world and realise how many people around you use illegal drugs for pain/creativity/relaxation/fun and are still beautiful and 100% functional members of society. It's not something those people are going to admit to a hateful person like you. Take your vitriol off this site and let people be in control of their own body's.
Do you like a beer or wine? how about a big sugar-coated donut with a coffee? Sorry to break it to ya- all drugs… or should i say "drungs".
