The Prodigal Son (Doesn't Really) Return

Lachlan Murdoch was once the favored son of the News Corp. dynasty. But that was before brother James came in, and in a very Shakespearean move, effectively banished his older brother to Australia in 2005. Sure, it was all a little more complicated than that, since it was Roger Ailes who succeeded the oldest Murdoch heir for News Corp. television CEO. But still! Whatever happened to Lachlan, who featured such a prominent role in the early Murdoch dynasty?

According to him, not much. The Australian, which has been in the Murdoch family forevs, interviewed their former employee/boss for the tenth anniversary of their media section (which he helped launch) the official story was "Lachlan won't rule out News Corp. position." But what he actually said when asked whether he would consider coming back to work for his father's company? “I won’t comment. I just want to wish the Media section a happy birthday. And I wish there was more advertising in it!” No comment? That's basically like saying yes.
