Is Page Six Out to Get CNBC?

dylan_ratigan
There's a reason that high drama seems to follow business news network CNBC around wherever it goes. It's main competitor if Fox Business News, owned by Murdoch, who also owns The Post and it's ubiquitous gossip column, Page Six. So the fact that there's always a "scoop" about the backstage cat-fights at NBC's sister station should be taken with just a grain of salt. Nevertheless…

We can't put all the blame on FBN: Jim Cramer dug his own grave and the Post let him off easy, compared to say, Jon Stewart. And CNBC does have a partnership with Dow Jones and The Wall Street Journal, both owned by Murdoch. But today's item about Fast Money host Dylan Ratigan quitting over a dispute with producer Susan Krakower could just as easily be a bluff (to create even more tempest in the teapot action over a the tumultuous station) as fact.

Page Six heard a tape of highly volatile Ratigan, who also co-anchors "The Call" and "Closing Bell," ranting to a producer at a commercial break last summer…He then accuses Krakower of never addressing his concerns in private. "You know what, Susan, I'm in the middle of hosting a show right now, so now is an unwelcome time to hear your voice . . . If you want to pull me off the show, please do," he roars. "[You are] rude and disrespectful. . . . You lie to me routinely."

According to their sources, today will be Ratigan's last day on the network. Guess the only way to find out is…tune in to more CNBC. And that's how they getcha.

Who cares? Jon Stewart was right…CNBC is nothing but a bunch of Wall Street cheerleaders and hucksters…fawning, gushing and touting the same corporate a**holes who got the country into this financial mess. I hope the network tanks like my 401K. I'll never watch again.

Dylan Ratigan was on the Morning Joe MSNBC program so often this year that he was almost a "regular". Then a couple weeks ago he abruptly disappeared. I wondered what was going on. It wasn't very transparent (a word Dylan used so often, he almost wore it out).

Dylan Ratigan was at one time predicting Dow 5000 or 4000 on Morning Joe. I didn't have to take my Metamucil that day.

Ratigan, who joined CNBC in 2003, began his business news career at Bloomberg TV, where he was plucked from a job at a parking garage thanks to some help from Michael Bloomberg's ex-wife, Susan.

CNBC won't let the guy do today's show. Darn. I remember when Maryland Public Television let Louis Rukeyser do one last show as they were putting him out to pasture and he savaged them. I was hoping for something like that.

Don't make 'em like Louis any more.

Well, you know how stressful it can be sitting around schmoozing all day with Wall Street. CNBC is owned by GE - the largest corp in the world with interests in every failed industry. Why would the reporters ever dispell the truth - it's not good for parent company dirty business. Can you say Boiler Room? That movie says it all…

Jon Stewart is an average comedian at best. cbnc, bloomberg and fox biz all have ther strengths but are not guilty of any wrong doing. Keep screwing up and go blame it on someone else. I bet JS's bro makes a nice living off Wall St.
Is the Comedy channel responsible all the bad jokes in the world? Is the food channel responsible for bad food or dirty restaurants? C'mon folks be real. Take a mortgage you can't afford and keep spending way above your means and then blame Wall Street. Just because illegal drugs are manufactured no one forces you to buy and take them.

True - but Jon Stewart was not implying that CNBC, ET AL are to blame for the financial crisis.

Stewart's beat down of Cramer was about the fact that CNBC failed to report the gross reality and severity of the situation. The network chose to continue peddling stocks (Cramer) as business as usual instead of sharing the facts of a dire market to the general public. As a 'News' organization - neutral reporting the facts is a responsibility and the public had a right to be informed of the risk. You can't hang out with the dirty and not get dirty…

CNBC has GOT to get Susan Krakower out of there if they hope to save their network. She was once a blessing to them but is now their #1 cancer. Turnover is out of control and she is driving it. Look what happened when she ran The Big Idea into the ground!!! She is a disaster who bluffed her way in with a single decent idea but has long since run dry. She should have departed a year ago with her dignity. But now she needs to embrace the reality she is about to be kicked to the curb. Less than 60 days.

Are there really that many people out out there who HAVEN'T snorted coke once in their lives? Did nobody ever offer you a little bit, for fun? Ever? If not, awww, how pitiful.

I didn't even bash the Bush twins for all their dumbass mistakes. Cause I have so been in their party shoes!

@bam:

right on. how many 'family mis-haps' can we remember from the past admins? didn't carter have a brother that made "billy beer"? wasn't reagan's daughter a recovering drug addict? bush senior had a recovering alcoholic son (who later became prez!) no need to list all clinton's skeletons. and bush junior had his partying twins. i don't think cheney's daughter being a lesbian is a mis-hap. can anyone think of any more?

There was a Kennedy family murder case. Or two. One was "accidental" and the other was not.

What's this about a mitten fetish?

that was my little "ya, but" joke Biden's daughter snorted coke, ya but, Chaneys's daughter is gay!

we can play "ya, but" all day long

I don't think anybody beats the Kennedy brothers, both having affairs with MM and "possibly" involved with her death. Prez Kennedy having another affair with woman who is also involved with Mafia guy. Pretty low, life people those Kennedys

and we CANNOT ever forget "the lion of the Senate" who went home to bed and left a girl at the bottom of the lake.

Now that is a real Liberal Hero, The Lion of the Senate.

I'm 28 and I have never done any drug let alone a hardcore drug like cocaine. I also think it is erroneous to compare snorting cocaine to being a lesbian. One of is illegal and potentially very dangerous and one is simply a sexual orientation.

I've never snorted cocaine either, but it seems both Bush and Obama have. Obama might have been a dealer as well, and there was a rumur Laura Bush was a dealer. I find the Laura Bush rumor to be comical, try as I may, I can't see Laura Bush selling dope!

I have never heard these "rumors" and if they are unsubstantiated which I'm sure they are they sound slanderous.I'm really not looking to fight with you but I was raised that you do not make slanderous accusations unless you have proof.
