They should make a movie about illegal drugs being taken by the daughter of someone close to the President. Wait a minute, they did already. It was called Traffic.
I believe Joe Biden is played by Michael Douglas.
Since we cant use "Global War on Terror (GWOT)" what will Obama call this War 'next door'? (and what medals will 'he' award to fallen American warriors? -remember Somilia & Clinton; 'we dont want to talk about that…')
@Kinky-Neo-Con: We'll call it what they called it when Reagan launched this stupid thing: War on Drugs.
how about we send all the drug addicts to Mexico. Legal drug zone where they can do drugs to their hearts content and not jeopardize the rest of us? thoughts?
@bam-a-lam: Actually! Pres. Nixon launched the "war on drugs" :-(
@Kinky-Neo-Con: Oh, wow. He did, didn't he? I'm thinking of Nancy Reagan's more simplistic (but possibly more effective) solution, Just Say No!
@bam-a-lam: yeah, Nancy did the whole "Just Say No" thing. But the good ole Reagan days were the height of 'Miami Vice' (Cocaine Cowboys) cool :-)
I hear they're beheading lots of people south of the border. Sounds a little more serious than just say no.
interestingly, that first photo, without actual bodies, is the most chilling.
Rhonda, yeah, apparently not that many people said no. Just like Prohibition (War on Alcohol!) brought us a new class of "criminals", from homegrown moonshiners to organized crime, the War on Drugs brings us what we have today. Regulation of alcohol did away with the black market and all the accompanying underground smuggling, murder, and organized crime in order to supply a demanding public, and regulation of drugs will do the same thing right now.
Hi Bam,
My Mom died a few years back and I was so angry with the doctor. Mom was in so much pain and dying and the doctor wouldn't prescribe the medications she needed for pain management because he didn't want to make her an addict. Dying people can't get drugs and everyone else can. The world is totally nuts. We were able to get her a pain management doctor, but I swore if I had to go out and find a dealer, I would.
@Rhonda: Rhonda, I'm so sorry you and your mom had to go through that. I think that doctor has a masochistic streak about 5 miles wide. I'm sure he loves his job. I would do the same as you would.
@bam-a-lam: The doctor had a SADISTIC streak, not masochistic. I'm clicking on all 4's here.
Bam, thanks
Don't worry, I read the way you meant it. He was a mean, awful doctor.
You think drugs should be legal? Probably be easier and cheaper than dealing with doctors.
There really are enough people dying on the streets from alcohol, I'm not sure we need to add high and whacked to that mix.
Otherwise if people would just stay home, noone would really care unless they beat their kids or something.
@Rhonda: I had a high school junior tell me tonight at supper that he thought half the kids in his class smoked weed. Boys and girls. I'm not sure what should be done, but having that many people classified as criminals seems far out. BAM might be getting to me. Also I think anything should be done that can be done to help the dying with their pain. Anything.
@fanofgrendel: If I manage to get to you regarding this matter, my dear, I will consider it an honor. I can think of nothing that compares to you.
@Rhonda: It sounds shocking, for sure, even to me. I watched that video of the guy in the cowboy hat here on Jossip, and the statistics he cites are truly mind blowing. He's spent a lot of time working at keeping drugs out of the country and enforcing our drug laws and he has zero political agenda. That makes him a lot more credible to me.
Fan, thanks
I hope my mom was the exception rather than the rule. Hate to think of dying people not getting meds to ease their pain. Thats the least that can be done for them.
I'm with Bam also, making criminals out of everyone who has smoked pot is insane.
I have friends in California who grow their own, for medicinal purposes of course.
I don't know if the pot usage bring that violent element with it or not. I've smoked weed before and just got sleepy.
@Rhonda: Actually the pot industry in the US was mellow and non-violent until it got to be illegal. That's when the cartels got in the picture. It's easier now to buy coke, crack, or meth than it is some good homegrown. That's pretty messed up.
@Rhonda: You know when you deal with potheads it's going to be okay. Most of my old friends got completely out of the business when gun-toting Mexicans started coming with the shipments. That's when it all started to go down a really dark steet.
Bam,
I watched that video and agree that guy doesn't seem to have any agenda.
I can see both sides of the issues.
alcohol has caused so much grief, do we add fuel to the fire and then like that guy said its only making drug cartels more violent. so who knows, I don't.
What do drug cartels do when you legalize their product?
For better or worse I think the government is going to legalize some drugs so they can TAX it. :)
@Rhonda: I don't know what happens to cartels in that situation. At the rate it's going they can start smuggling cigarettes fairly soon. That would be a hell of a note!
Bam,
get ready for the "racist" police, gonna be here any minute.
@Rhonda: I expect them in 4..3..2.. But I only speak the facts, ma'am, nothing but the facts. Nothing I say about gun-toting Mexicans and shipments comes from any source other than my own experience.
@bam-a-lam: But it was a long time ago! Really.
Sure, Bam, that's what they all say:)
@Rhonda: :)
@bam-a-lam: So you are friends with drug dealers? Classy.
@anderson cooper is my future husband: Judgey, aren't you? I'm an old person. I have old friends from the 60's and we certainly dipped our toes in every significant cultural event of our time. Life experience is the best learning tool available.
@bam-a-lam: Seems like you are the one living on a "dark street" I don't care how you rationalize it drug dealers are scum it makes sense that you would associate with them.
@anderson cooper is my future husband: Go stuff a sock in your mouth and take the plunger out of your ass, Gestapo freak.
@anderson cooper is my future husband: What's the matter, can't find any people you can beat up in person so you have to get online and do it? Classy.
Just taking your lead you do it all the time. Shouldn't you be somewhere doing drugs?
@anderson cooper is my future husband: Anderson Cooper would be so disappointed in you. I'm going to call him and tell him all about you.
@bam-a-lam: He would be far more disappointed in you. I read your post about how the vampire hooker deserved it. You are a scumbag cow.
@anderson cooper is my future husband: Where DO you fall in the political spectrum? I can't see either right or left exactly wanting you to speak up for them. Oh, wait. Are you one of those fringe people, the ones that lurk on the outer edges waiting to take cheap shots? Cl-Assy.
@anderson cooper is my future husband: Your opinion doesn't count. Go work on your swastika collection.
@bam-a-lam: Boo-hoo bitch you can dish it out but you can't take it.
@anderson cooper is my future husband: I'm almost flattered you've been reading, and remembering(!) some of my thoughts. Almost. I don't bother reading most of yours, this is a rare exception I'm making. It won't last.
@bam-a-lam: I can just imagine a fat sloppy woman with crumbs all over her shirt furiously typing. You are a mean cow you constantly pick on other posters now it turns out you hang out with drug dealers. Yuck.
@anderson cooper is my future husband: I doubt you could even snag Larry King.
@bam-a-lam: Oh I guess you went to smoke pot. LOL
Busty chick. Looks a bit scared. Lot of adrenaline flow. I wonder if they performed a full cavity search …
doesnt look like a war… looks like a massacre to me..just bodies of men everywhere…
Legalizing would simply put the cartels out of business. An end to the cartels would be an end to their violence. I live near the south texas border and I see the poor mexican victims of OUR government's "war on drugs" first hand.
It's our own irrational, propaganda-based fear of weed that is killing so many our innocent neighbors in mexico.
