Google Talks, Twitter Listens

Rumor is, there's finally a deal on the table for Twitter, that micro-blogging network that attracts equally micro (and macro) celebs, or at least their ghostwriters, to their site. Murdoch was in talks to purchase the company — although chances are he still has no idea what the website does — so Google is swooping down to make an offer "way, way north" of the $250 million it was previously estimated at to use for its real-time search engine power. (Think like, extreme Google Trends.) It's like the Dow Jones kerfuffle all over again, except this time News Corp. might walk away with its tail between its legs instead of buying The Wall Street Journal.
