Guiding Light Flickers Out, Or Some Such

Huge Internet stink about Guiding Light, the longest-running soap opera in production, being shut down after 57 years on the air. Which is sort of ironic, given that there is a very few cross-section of people who both write for the Internet and did their part to keep Guiding Light alive with their patronage. Maybe CBS can turn it into a successful web-series?

CBS has ignored this show for years, bad time slot (10am in half the country) and no promotions. Thankfully they don't own the show. Proctor & Gamble (the soap company) has owned the show for 72 years and is still looking for a way to continue plugging its product through sudsy drama (via cable/inernet/etc). Its already the cheapest soap in production which actually makes these things considerable.

thanks for the post
