Less Time In Prison For Iraqi Shoe-Thrower Thanks to Super-Obama

In either a gesture of goodwill, ill will, or just plain coincidence, Iraqi officials have lessened the sentence of the man who threw his shoe at George Bush, only days before Barack Obama is set to step foot (no pun intended) in the country.

Muntazer al-Zaidi, who started a worldwide trend for shoe-chucking protests, will serve one year in prison instead of three, an Iraqi court announced just minutes before Obama flew in to Iraq.

The courts say the decision was made because al-Zaidi had no prior history of arrests, The Guardian says it was to calm anti-U.S. sentiment in the country before Obama's arrival, and we say: Not that we want the guy in jail or anything, but how is reducing the punishment of a man who endangered our head of state going to make Iraqi citizens pro-America?
