Obama's "Victory" Against Eight Pirates?

obama_war

It's weird how The Washington Post just straight-up defames a bunch of people in its article about Barack Obama's successful mission against the Somali pirates this weekend. We wonder if its intentional.

Most of the piece is pretty flowery (why must the liberal media kowtow to Obama's competent and rational military decisions?????), but THEN it goes and compares Bill Clinton's failed mission into Haiti, a violent island nation, in '93 with Obama's recent battle, in which an entire Navy warship defeated eight pirates in a lifeboat. You're forgiven for missing the shit-talking there, because it's subtle. So allow us to count the dissees: 1. the nation of Haiti, who the Post apparently finds no more threatening than a few Somalis stranded in the Indian Ocean, 2. Bill Clinton, who fucked up what should have been an easy W for 'Merica, and 3. us, the readers, who are expected to be dumb enough to believe that some bullshit skirmish with a ragtag crew of Somali thieves is a real "military victory" for Obama.

Fix Iraq and then we'll talk.

No. 1 · Damn the torpedos

the real Heros are the US Navy SEALs "HOOYAH!" and the ship's crews (Bainbridge, Halyburton, Boxer) and shore support staff in the Horn of Africa O.A.

It took Obama 5 days to give the order, I'm not sure that's hero status, just saying.

I wish Barack Obama would have ate a can of spinach, and then went off 'Popeye Style' on the pirates.

THAT would have been fun.

Obama had to "focus group" the WH Easter egg Roll, doubtful, he's ever gonna "eat spinach and turn into superman for anybody.

the captain was kidnapped wednesday, obama signed off on orders friday. you don't have to bash every single thing he does. give him a break. it's not liked he flew over and waved from air force one.

The Seals are the heros, those guys are born ready! I'm quite sure they didn't need a focus group!

How could Obama do this without a UN resolution? Did anyone read the pirates their rights? How are the more moderate pirates going to respond to this? How will this play in the pirate street?

Nice going SEALs…should've done this the minute the SEALs got aboard the Bainbridge. On shot, one kill, bitches. I believe they didn't even bother with a trial back in the day. Just hung their asses off the mast. Being caught committing piracy ("illegal" kind, not the pseudo-legal privateers) was a death sentence. Rule of the seas and all of that.

Oh BTW, I would like to issue an open challenge to all pirates to a game of Sid Meier's Pirates! I get to pick England, though.

You can bet your ass that if the mission was screwed up Obama would be held to blame but of course bashing the President trumps everything else. Same re: Iraq. If a Democrat had ever done what Bush did the Republicans would be screaming about all those Americans that died because there were no WMDs.

But of course Conservatives have one goal… total power including world domination and no amount of lying and hate mongering or evidence of failure will deter them.

US Conservatives are the mirror image of the fanatics in Iran.

as someone who watches "Sniper School" on the Military channel, I can agree that a Navy Seal's sniper skills are ANYTHING but luck.

I'm sure Chris Matthews has tons of military credit and all…(not), but I hate to break it too him…SEALs don't get lucky. They generally don't need it.

They probably made a hard as all hell shot, but it wasn't luck. It's kinda what they train like 10 years for. Chris Matthews is a douche.
