The Most Heartwarming TV Moment Involving Simon Cowell You'll Ever See

boyle

This video of a lady on the Britain's Got Talent (The British version of American Idol, which you would assume was already the X-Factor. In any case, all three somehow involve Simon Cowell because he is just that good at his job) singing Les Mis impressively has become more viral than a case of HPV in off-campus senior housing. Is it because we love an anti-hero: Susan Boyle, the portly, middle-aged walking joke, who manages to turn the whole thing around with her amazing rendition of "I Dreamed a Dream." Or is it something else…

(Clip starts around :49)

Sure, we like the jaw drop on Simon, and the bursting applause and everyone being so "Didn't expect that, did you? Get it, 'cuz she's old and ugly, so you wouldn't expect her to be talented?" It's such a load of crap. This woman is the ringiest ringer since Clay Aiken. What does make this clip awesome though? On the X Factor, you're apparently allowed to sing show tunes. Which realistically has been the only thing keeping me back from auditioning for Idol. One ticket to London, please!

I saw this yesterday, and the look on Cowell's face is enough of a reason to watch.

but also, the woman does have a beautiful voice.

OMG that was sensational!! She totally kicked ass and showed that smug audience that God's gifts come in many different forms.

While I dont want to sound like Debbie Downer she really wasn't hitting any of the high notes like that guy who always sings this song. She just had a simple operatic voice. It just seemed grand coming from her.

As heartwarming as this moment was for the audience the judges most likely knew ahead of time. Simon Cowell is an executive producer on this show it is almost impossible he not know ahead of time of this women's talent and they were going to make her appearance a big show moment.

Oh, great. Debby Downer again.

I loved this clip. The song is beautiful and her rendition was lovely to hear. Great voice.

While I love the idea I am no chump like Bam-a-Lam:

this woman is clearly lip synching (lypsyncing?)

if you play back the tap you will see that the singing begins before she starts moving her lips….she is off in a few places…and she moves the microphone more fully in front of her lips to hide the fact she is not really singing

this battle ax makes even britney look like a pro

before hating me on this see for yourself and let me know if you agree

@getreal:

EXACTLY MY POINT: AND SHE IS LYP SYNCHING

DOESNT SHE LOOK LIKE THE BROAD FROM THE DREW CAREY SHOW?

@DEBBIE DOWNER: I didn't notice the lip-syncing but I'm not chump either. These "reality" shows are overproduced and usually scripted. That is why most of these shows have writers. The upside is this woman who seems sweet and genuine got a chance to shine.

I just watched it again and I didn't see any lip-synching I do think they knew what she sounded like ahead of time though.

Hello to all my american friends in the States!

Miss Susan Boyle here!

Don't get all your panties tied up in a knot over whether I was lip synching or not! Of course I was! I'm a professional British actress! I got paid a small fee for my appearance (and also to have a complete melt down in next week's episode!)

Stay tuned!

I still think ugly (and plain) people should be seen and not heard.

Thats why I only communicate with people on the internets. I'll never meet anyone as beautiful or fabulous as myself this side of the Atlantic.

@Peter:

Peter said: What guts - imagine youself in this situation where everyone is thinking "Oh no - not another one"

I imagine Peter has had to deal with that dilemma every day of his life to date. So sad.

wish I wouldn't have read this blog…these heartless, immature comments flipped a simple, Godly moment into a typically insensitive and worldly response to a captured moment that could of made anyone root for the underdog…shame on us as a whole !!!

Angela DiAntonio: Go to Youtube and you will read lots of wonderful comments about this talented lady. Sadly this site can be like the Daily News with the most cynical and heartless posters (many are not even regulars). With so little goodwill in the headlines these days I find Susan Boyle's story a much needed boost.

I admire her guts for being herself, going up the stage and be in the middle of a jungle where people can be like beasts in judging a person's talent and beauty.

Good for her, she survived. GO SUSAN!!

debbie downer, take your own advice and watch the clip again.

you can clearly see that the audio is not synched with the video throughout the clip.

watch the people when they TALK and you'll notice that the audio of what they say precedes their lips moving.
