FALL HAS FALLEN NBC will no longer unveil its new lineup in the fall, as networks have done for no good reason since the radio days. Since people watch TV during the winter, spring and summer as well, the network will stagger its shows throughout the year. An NBC spokespipe claims “this is going to change the industry.†And by change the industry, they mean formally acknowledge a trend that has been happening for years. [NYT]

how about quality television. Now THAT would change the industry. You know, comedies like "Bewitched", NOT with Nicole Kidman, happy chick flick movies like "Sleepless in Seattle" as, maybe, Movie of the Week, great stories like "The Name of the Game", with Robert Stack, Gene Barry, Tony Franciosa. Or "The Wild, Wild West", with Robert Conrad. I could go on and on, but I remember when Friday night television was a reason to stay home and the family watched TV together from 7:30 to 11:00.
