Ah, the timeless topic no one wants to talk about: Sexism in the workplace.

The Good Wife Season 6 Episode 5 went there and opened up a discussion about what it means to label a woman “bitch.” It was social commentary wrapped in entertainment, which might have the best chance at reaching the masses these days.

As Alicia and Dean went up again Elsbeth Tascioni in a sexual harassment suit, viewers were treated to Elsbeth’s internal monologue, which sort of distracted from the case at hand and made us wonder if there isn’t more coming out of Carrie Preston’s two-episode guest arc.

Is this case, where discussion about the word “bitch” being a descriptor of strong women, going to play out while we watch Alicia run for State’s Attorney?

Here’s hoping yes.

It’s an interesting discussion to be having, honestly, particularly on primetime television. Alicia’s leadership will no doubt be called “bitchy” (or worse) at some point during her run, and perhaps even more often when/if she’s elected. It’s a label many strong women can’t seem to shake.

While there are those like Madonna who would seek to claim the word as a badge of honor, there are many other women who find it disparaging.

Men are allowed to be strong and often ruthless and they’re branded as capable leaders. When women speak their minds in an attempt to be the same kind of leader, they’re called bitches and made to feel like the primary goal of life is to have people like them.

(Newsflash: Not everyone will like everyone. Not liking someone doesn’t make that person a bitch. It just makes that person someone whose personality clashes with your own.)

Anyway. The case is on hold for now, so we’ll see more of it when we watch The Good Wife online.

For now, let’s shift our attention to the episode’s B-plot. A malware scam that wiped out all of the files at Florrick, Argos, Lockhart, and Associates.

Oh, yeah, and their building is literally falling apart.

Look, people. Don’t click the link. Ever. You’re not going to win a million dollars or a new car. You’re NEVER going to hit the flying duck. You ARE going to infect your computer and if that computer is on a network, you’re infecting everyone else’s too.

Thankfully, the firm was able to recover their lost files for the small price of $50,000. You rock, Kalinda. And we’re really going to miss you when you go.

Yep. You read that right. Archie Panjabi is leaving The Good Wife at the end of this season. It’ll no doubt be as sad as Josh Charles’ exit, but hopefully won’t involve death.
