NBC has the genius idea of letting you download their shows, in HD!, for free, wrapped in ads. It's a service called NBC Direct, and it's in its second iteration after a year of development. It's also their way of saying F-U to Apple's iTunes. So far, here's the experience: "I tried to give the software a whirl tonight, but despite my best efforts to upgrade, restart, agree, continue, login, trouble-shoot and force-quit, it just wasn't happening."
