28 Years After Lennon's Death, McCartney Still Trying to One-Up Him
What, is it because of "Imagine?" It's because of "Imagine," isn't it. That song is bollocks

Lennon may be dead and buried, but that doesn't mean Sir Paul McCartney can't tie up his galoshes and start stomping around on the memory of his former band mate. His current petty "clarification" involved telling reporters how he was actually the Beatle who told everyone about Vietnam being sucky. That poncer John would have been singing "I wanna hold your hand" forever if it hadn't been for him!

McCartney said (Bertrand) Russell - who was in his 90s - was "fabulous" and "told me about the Vietnam War. Most of us didn't know about it; it wasn't yet in the papers."
He went back to the studio and recalls "telling the guys, particularly John, about this meeting and saying what a bad war this was."

This is still about Yoko, isn't it? Dude, it is time to let that shit go already. Give peace a chance, and all that good stuff.

Take a course in reading comprehension please. You are putting words in Paul's mouth. He is only speaking about how awareness of the war transpired, not that he was doing publicity for himself laden bed-ins.

Doesn't Macca get it that he does himself no favors with these type of statements? It doesn't matter what he meant, he should be smart enough by now to leave certain topics alone. It bites him in the ass everytime.

This news just in! Paul remembers life in his twenties! This comment at least has the minimal decency to actually quote McCartney's words. It does not supply the context of the quote, or reference the publication it appears in, of course, but it seems to quote the words McCartney said. But alas, he is not quoted because the writer wants to comment fairly or shed any light on a turbulent period in our history, no, nothing so rare and strange as that. The writer just wants to bash McCartney about the head, or galoshes, for his attitude to John Lennon.

I think it's high time we had someone paying attention to Lennon's attitude to McCartney, which is not, I fear, above reproach.

I agree w/ Carol; Lennon spent a lot of energy bashing Macca, check out his interview in Rolling Stone w/ Jann Wenner.
I am a Beatle fan of 41 years and on and I am tired of these sorts of stories.
Let's not render the Beatles as another Elvis;let them rest in peace and be thankful for all the great music and memories they gave us. We who claim to love them are obligated to do no less.
