The magazine industry can no longer float Playgirl, and half of print's readership suddenly vaporized, with titles like Vogue and W even seeing declines. So this must be a great time to start a new magazine, yes? Enter Boho, which looks to be a catalogue for the store Anthropologie but is actually a women's fashion and service book for those who agree with Graydon Carter that the West Village is still the den of bohemia.
Fine.
But then they started throwing around words like "inner hippy" and "thrift-shop," which are usually followed by "hair lice" and "not shaving," and this we want no part of. Below, see what else is in this 1960s guidebook.

Just how stupid are these companies for launching new dumb, unneeded magazines in a market that doesn't need any more dumb, unneeded magazines and is already overloaded with dumb, stupid, unneeded magazines. Enough! No more stupid magazines. Sheesh, people, wake up. Do something else. The world doesn't need another crappy magazine.
Now is NOT the time to launch anything new, unless it has substance. Even then, I'd be cautious. What I'd do, perhaps, is tell Tina Brown to relaunch "Talk", possibly using the old Andy Warhol "Interview" concept of having well known people interview well known people.
I think the magazine industry is in major denial that their empire is folding, much like the newspaper industry. People are still reading…. but on the internet where it's free and doesn't make your fingers dirty.
This magazine is long over due. Love it. With everyone jumping on the Green machine this magazine gives focus on good things. What's wrong with that? I think BoHo magazine should rule the world. keep up the good work.
