Aaron Hicklin is Out's new daddy

Because it takes the gays so much longer to get anything accomplished – but not, it seems, as long as it takes the intellectuals – only now is LPI Media (now gayly owned by PlanetOut Partners, which runs Gay.com in all its sweaty, man-sex glory) getting around to finding a new editor-in-chief for Out since Brendan Lemon's smooth depature last fall.

So who's it gonna be? It's Aaron Hicklin, who comes on over from editing BlackBook, which we're quite confident printed all the fashion and culture items to qualify anybody to head up a fag rag. Not to mention, he's got great bone structure.

After the jump, the staff email from LPI interim president Bob Cohen.

Dear Colleagues,

I am delighted to announce that Aaron Hicklin will be our new editor in chief for OUT Magazine and will be based in the LPI New York office effective Monday, April 24.

Aaron is an accomplished and well-known editorial leader in men's fashion and style media circles. He comes to OUT from BlackBook magazine, where, as editor in chief, he guided the
publication to become one of the preeminent national publications of men's fashion, style, and progressive arts and culture. Prior to BlackBook, he was on the launch team for Gear magazine, where he served as senior editor and executive editor.

Prior to working in US magazine publishing, Aaron was an accomplished newspaper and magazine journalist in the UK, serving as features editor of Scotland on Sunday, one of Scotland's largest and most successful newspapers, where he was among the team of journalists to win the Scottish Press Award for coverage of the September 11th attacks and was a runner up in the Foreign Press Awards for his coverage of the Israeli-Palestinian peace process in 1996.

Aaron will be an excellent leader for OUT as we move the magazine and the online brand in bold new directions. He will be in the NY office Monday afternoon, April 10, to meet the East Coast team and will join me in the LA office on Tuesday, April 18 to meet our Western colleagues.

Please join me in welcoming Aaron to the PlanetOut/LPI/SPI family. I am confident you are going to enjoy working with him.

Bob Cohen
