We had totally forgotton about Mel Gibson's little project with ABC: a miniseries about the Holocaust. As though the idea weren't alarming enough when it was proposed, in light of recent, drunken, "fucking Jew" remarks, we would say Gibson's production company, Icon Productions, is probably not the ideal candidate for the job.
Though, ABC is claiming the anti-Semite stuff is not the reason behind the pull. They dropped Gibson because his company never actually wrote the story.
"Given that it has been nearly two years and we have yet to see the first draft of a script, we have decided to no longer pursue this project with Icon," an ABC representative said late yesterday. The representative declined to comment further on why the project had been shelved.
See, the problem was that Gibson couldn't find anyone who was willing to write a script which included clapping and cheering every time a WW2 Jews died of starvation in the ghetto.

Mel Gibson and Jews are oil and water. Besides, how about doing a ministeries that is light, romantic and has a happy every after ending. Want to make money in Hollywood? You don't have to be a brain surgeon to know that, with all the bad news being lobbed at our brains 24/7, people are shutting off the news, not buying the newspapers and looking for escapist fun. That's why Pirates did so well, and the Aniston/Vaughn movie did so well, regardless of the reviews. People want fun, action and romantic comedies. Duh????? Remember the Doris Day/Rock Hudson combo, the Astair/Hepburn combo, the Ryan/Hanks combo? Remember how popular those were? The audience hasn't changed that much.
Fine. Now will ABC agree to pull all programs depicting white Christians as dumb-hick hayseeds? Will they pull all depictions of Muslims as terrorists? Will they pull all depictions of Jews as intellectuals ? The only time Christians are depicted in a "favorable" light is when the Christian is black or Hispanic…then they are written and portrayed as world-wise, ever put-upon by whitey,and profoundly but in a simple straight-forward way, spiritual and good to their core. If ABC is going to pull projects based upon the politics of the writer,director,actors, etc…as a publicly traded company they should pull ALL projects and programs developed by ultra-liberal writers, directors, actors, as well. ABC needs to now research all programs that contain references to Christians as "Jesus Freaks" or ultra-right Neo-Nazis. Further this CHRISTMAS…if ABC runs a single promo for a Christmas program as a HOLIDAY program all it will show is their hypocrisy…that's it…run a Santa movie but make sure you take out all references to CHRISTmas…but do be sure to rake in the ad revenues from the bump in business that CHRISTmas brings. Sorry predominantly Jewish-run Hollywood, your moral high ground is as shaky as the fault line running under your studios.
It seems that ICON productions could care less about the past being the EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION for future generations. Not for Mr. Gibsons remarks but for the bottom line of $$$$$- screw the future generations-we want to line our pockets now.
People sure are quick to throw stones and make money from it. His wake up to reality is going to be good. We are looking forward to more movies with and from Mel.
