I think that this whole thing between Alec and Kim is wrong on both parts. I know what it's like to go though divorce and have children involved and as an Adult and for the sake of my kids I could have made things really bad if I chose to act like an immature selfish person. Parents who break up and divorce and only think about their hurt and pain and totally forget about what their actions, emotions, and behavior does to the children they share. Yes it hurts when the love of your life breaks up and depending on the circumstances, but when children are involved you have to think about what is the best way for your children to survive thru this all with as little of pain as possible. Their lives have been turned upside down and shattered in to millions of pieces and the worst thing a parent can do is add to that by not putting them before your own pain. Your and adult they are not. You can get thru the pain maturely and know how to deal with it where children do not. There are are groups out there to help you get thru all that pain and understand and give you support as well as groups that do that same thing for your children. What happens between you and your spouse needs to stay just that between you and your spouse and your children do not need to be the butt of it all. They are very smart and they feel the tention and hear it and see it. Both Alec and Kim are in the wrong … Alec for the way he displayed his anger towards his child and Kim for releasing this trash for all public to see… Did either of them think about the harm they put their child in? I think not.

The little girl doesn't deserve to be called a pig at any time. However, the way she is acting has being allowed by her PARENTS. Rich or not, this kind of behavior is unacceptable by any child. I know if I were Ireland, it would have been me to have leaked the three minute message. I think the whole debate over who released it and whether or not Kim Bassinger should be prosecuted for this leak is not only premature but also a smoke screen.

The real crime here is Alec's behavior towards his daughter. There is no parent child relationship there, he's a big whiney baby, and she needs a restraining order.

It seemed rather strange through the course of this message how many times Alec said "me" and "I" and how this made him feel. Maybe she is just mimmicking that "selfish pig" behavior from her parent.
It also sounds as if Alec has lost COMPLETE control as a parent and he doesn't know how to deal with it.

All parents sound like that now and then, and any parent who tells you different likely has no sense of self-awareness. Kids drive you crazy. I don't know what the big deal is, really; it's not like he threatened violence. Who knows — maybe the kid is playing stupid games with him and DOES need to be straightened out. Obviously she's a pawn in an on-going war between Mom and Dad, as the release of this tape proves. I think letting this tape out was just downright evil on Kim Basinger's part; it really, really shows bad parentling, more than anything Alec demonstrated on the tape, because it gives a 12-year-old a power trip. It tells her, one, she doesn't have to respect her father at all, and two, she can just call TMZ or the New York Post or ET or whoever if he should ever get too loud.

Is Ireland a spoiled child? Possibly. Does that mean that she deserves the kind of treatment her father has shown on the tape? No.
What Alec did was wrong. The release of that tape was wrong. The fact that this is news is so wrong.
The judge in this whole custody battle would do well to remove Ireland completely from both parents. They both have multiple problems that need fixing before they can be affective parents. Ireland needs a save haven away from the crap her parents have been putting her through. She actually has a chance to grow up and be a decent human being if she is placed in home where they show love through encouragement and boundaries. A home where respect for yourself and other human beings is a priority. A home where you learn that there are consequences for every action. Her parents don't deserve to have this child.

Alec has been through hell. Ms. Basinger continually alienates the child against him. My husband stole my children when they were 4 and 8. Now they are 15 and 19. He has completely brainwashed them and they have no contact with me. While Alec was wrong to go off on his daughter, Kim is even more in the wrong for leaking it, and embarrassing her daughter all over the world. You have to have had an experience with a parent who keeps you from your child to understand Alec's frustration. Why is no one saying a thing about Kim not having Ireland available for the COURT ORDERED CALL? Because in this judicial system, dads pay child support and just shut up the rest of the time while the moms do what ever they want with no repercussions, unless you have the money to go back to court constantly…which Alec has…and Kim still does not follow the order. I have not heard ONE REPORTER call her on this. I think she is the PIG!
