Americans Continue Not to Care about Television Shows They Once Worshipped

Deal or No Deal, that gimmicky hour of game show bile that employs some trade secret formula to determine how much money to give away to contestants while still raking in the dough from advertisers, is not as popular as it once was. Actually, it’s the least popular it’s ever been! Not even Star Wars-themed episodes can help.

Analyzing the Nielsen numbers reveals Deal lost more than a fifth of its 18-49-year-old viewers; Monday’s show had the worst ratings yet. Howie Mandel has also watched total viewership decline a full 34 percent from last year’s season average.

Meanwhile, even Disney’s Hannah Montana is showing ratings fatigue: The last episode had 24 percent fewer viewers than the show before it, which only proves daddy Billy Ray made the right call in pushing her to do that Vanity Fair shoot: Miley Cyrus is gonna need a new gig soon.

Please don’t let this mean Howie’s reps are already calling around to GQ to see if they’re interested in a Jason Segel-size stunt.

The Star Wars show was pretty bad. Darth Vador as the banker shoehorning in quotes from the movies was pitiful.

I’ll be honest, the only reason I watched it was for the 26 models dressed as Princess Leia in the slave girl outfit.

There is no skill involved in this game, it gets boring pretty fast if the contestants don’t have a gimmick. Howie is a great host though.
