Hoping to cut down on credit card fraud, the MTA will begin asking for your billing zip code when you purchase a Metrocard with your credit card — just like those data-mining assholes at Gap. Only with the MTA, they won't store your information .. or so they claim.
"This will thwart attempts by thieves who have been known to use stolen credit cards to purchase multiple MetroCards and then make money by selling illegal swipes," Reuter said.
