Angry Hillary Supporters at DNC Call Themselves PUMAs, Expect Not to Be Ridiculed
Obama Supporter sums it up nicely, "You're all irrelevant! Jesus!"

PUMAs (Party Unity My Ass) are the Hillary supporters who have been turning the DNC into a circus with their vocal protests against Barack Obama. PUMAs are like the ugly step-sisters of cougars: Both groups are composed mainly of white older women and both want to tie up the gender divide, even as cougar antics are much more appealing/nonthreatening to the general public — but PUMAs are much less harmful to the liberal platform. Even Hillary Clinton has called for a cease-fire from her supporters, who are now such a monstrous a juggernaut of such capacity they can no longer be controlled by their creator.

That implies, however, that Clinton is at the root of this PUMA spectacle. She's not.

"Never mind that in three days in Denver I had not spotted a single PUMA or Hillary protester until I found where Chris Matthews was broadcasting," notes Salon's Rebecca Traister.

It seems that in their quest for national recognition, PUMAs have become a pawn for conservative analysts to describe the rift in the Democratic party. Whether they are doing more harm then good, don't these women deserve to have their complaints over the primaries heard? Not really:

Whether they knew it or not, the PUMAs who had congregated next to the MSNBC stage were making the night of the man who has done everything in his power to destroy their purported heroine(….) I asked (PUMA) Carlson why, if she was offended by being called "Sweetie" and invested in the legacy of her foremothers, she would express her disappointment over Obama's nomination by supporting a man who would rob women of their reproductive rights and who does not support equal-pay legislation. "We are really sick and tired of having women's rights held over our heads as a threat," she said. "It's country over party now."

Fair point: Women are sick of having their reproductive rights being held over their head as a threat.

Obvious point: Overturn Roe v. Wade, and "country over party" becomes just a smidge less significant.
